Bill Kelly was a four-year letterwinner in football at The Rock. He served two seasons as a team co-captain, earned one All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference honor and was named as the team MVP as a senior in 1964.
Kelly's playing career was interrupted by a two-year stint in the U.S. Army, followed by a one-year hiatus due to a serious injury sustained during preseason workouts in 1963 (which would have been his senior season).
Kelly's return to The Rock in 1964 was an illustrious one, as he was named as a team co-captain and earned All-PSAC and team MVP honors.
Following graduation from SRU in 1965, Kelly was a teacher in the Pittsburgh Public Schools system and a regional manager for the Gulf Oil Corporation.
Kelly, who died suddenly in 1975 at the age of 35, was a 1957 graduate of Perry High School in Pittsburgh.
Sean Patrick Moran, the son of Bill and Gretchen Kelly Moran, graduated from SRU in 1999 with a bachelor's degree in history and also received a post-bacculareate degree in secondary education/social studies in 2001.
