Roger Flynn (1968) was a standout pitcher for the SRU baseball team in his junior and senior seasons. He compiled a 7-1 record over those two years, and set a school record with a 0.80 ERA in his senior season.
 
After SRU, he pitched in the Pittsburgh Federation League, Men’s Senior League World Series, 47 and Over Men’s Penn Ohio League, and the Roy Hobbs World Series baseball competitions. Flynn also played in several USSSA national softball tournaments from 1970-75.
 
After his playing career, Flynn went on to coach several teams at Grove City High School. As the head coach of the girls’ basketball team, he compiled a record of 531-201. During his time as coach of the girls’ team, they won 14 Mercer County Athletic Conference titles, three District 10 titles, had five district runner-up finishes, and took four trips to the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Western Finals. Flynn also served as the assistant coach to they boys’ basketball, baseball, and football teams at Grove City. In 2008, Flynn was inducted into the Mercer County Hall of Fame.
