Highlights: All-PSAC offensive lineman, ranked as one of the top Division II offensive lineman following senior year, played in 1997 "Snow Bowl," signed by Washington Redskins as a free agent in 1997.
Maritz was a four-year letterman as an offensive lineman from 1992-96 that was ranked as one of the top 10 offensive lineman in the nation following his senior year in 1996. He earned All-PSAC honors following that 1996 season and earned an invite to play in the prestigious "Snow Bowl" in 1997. Maritz parlayed that performance into signing an undrafted free agent deal with the Washington Redskins in 1997. After battling injuries that cost him most of two collegiate seasons, Maritz left the game of football to embark on a career as a police officer.
He began his law enforcement career with stops as a Penn State University officer and as an officer in Prince Georges County in Maryland before returning to Pennsylvania to accept a position as a police officer in Robinson Township, where he has served since 2002. Maritz is assigned to the DEA Taskforce and is a member of the Pennsylvania Narcotics Association. He serves as a TASER instructor, a Top Gun Narcotics trainer and an Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response (ALERRT) instructor.
Maritz has been active in supporting Slippery Rock since his graduation, routinely going above and beyond for the football program. He and his wife, Kristin, are the proud parents of two children, Madison and Matthew.
