Rick Allen, who recorded several hard hits as an All-America football linebacker at Slippery Rock State College, now engineers seismic shifts in healthcare construction projects worldwide.

A member of SRU's 1983 graduation class, Allen was a three-year starter for Rock teams coached by Bob DiSpirito, Fred Goldsmith and Don Ault and earned Small College All-America honors in his senior season.

As a senior in 1982, Allen also earned first-team All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division, first-team All-ECAC and first-team Pittsburgh Post-Gazette all-district honors and was nominated for Academic All-America® honors.

Allen received a Bachelor of Science degree in health science from SRU in 1983 and a master's degree in health/hospital administration from the University of Pittsburgh in 1986. He is a Master (4th degree) black belt in martial art tae kwon do.

The father of four children, Allen has served as a youth sports baseball, football, and basketball coach in the North Allegheny School District. His second oldest son, Gary, will be a senior linebacker on the 2013 Rock football team and his youngest son, Derrick, will be an SRU junior in the 2013-14 academic year.

Allen is currently vice president for dck worldwide, an international company specializing in healthcare and hospital construction projects, and director of Global Health Care Services.

A native of Warren, Pa., and a graduate of Warren Area High School, Allen is an active participant in The Rock's "National Championship Initiative" project designed to enhance the football scholarship fund.
