Gordon Vietmeier (1989) led The Rock golf team to four straight NCAA Division II Championships and attained All-America status three times. He was one of only four SRU golfers to gain a first-team All-America position during his senior season. He won five consecutive tournaments during that final year and was named the PSAC's golf Athlete of the Year. He was also honored in 1996 as the Apprentice Player of the Year by the Tri-State Section of the Professional Golf Association (PGA).

After graduating from SRU, Vietmeier eventually assumed the role of head golf pro at The Club at Nevillewood.

In 2010, Vietmeier tied for low professional honors at the Nike Las Vegas Pro-Am golf tournament.
