Jim Cichra won the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference individual golf championship and earned first-team All-America honors in his final collegiate seasons of competition after being an honorable mention All-America selection as a junior.

A four-year letterman at The Rock on teams coached by 2005 SRU Hall of Fame inductee Dr. Al Schmittlein, Cichra was elected into the Professional Golfers of America (PGA) in 1983 and is still an active tournament participant.

In 1991, Cichra was named as the Tri State PGA Player of the Year after winning the Pennsylvania state PGA championship. He also won the 1995 West Penn Open, 1996 KDKA-TV Mystic Rock Match Play and 2004 Tri State PGA Stableford championships and had the lowest stroke average in the tri-state area three times (1987, 1990, 1991).

A native of Pittsburgh and graduate of Montour High School, Cichra is currently the golf director at the Robert Morris University Island Sports Center Golf Dome and coordinator of the Pittsburgh Youth Foundation-Catholic School Division.
