Matt Kinsinger is a former SRU football All-American that went on to be a member of three Arena Football League championship teams.

Kinsinger was a four-year letterman as a defensive lineman for Rock football teams coached by George Mihalik and earned All-America honors in 1997 and 1998, his final two seasons at SRU.

En route to the All-America honors, Kinsinger received first-team All-Northeast Region and All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division honors.

The Green and White’s starting nose tackle, Kinsinger played a major role in The Rock winning PSAC-West championships with perfect 6-0 records in both 1997 and 1998.

Kinsinger set SRU’s single-season quarterback sacks record with 12 in his junior season (1997), which broke his own mark of 11 set one year earlier, and also set the season tackles for a loss mark with 26 in 1997. Kinsinger remains The Rock’s career leader in QB sacks (60) and tackles for a loss (32).

Following his senior season, Kinsinger earned an invitation to play in the Snow Bowl, an NCAA Division II all-star game, in which he recorded three quarterback sacks, five tackles, one forced fumble and a safety.

Upon completion of his collegiate career, Kinsinger played nine seasons in the AFL, where he was the starting fullback on the San Jose SaberCats’ championship teams in 2002, 2004 and 2007.

Kinsinger is a 1995 graduate of Meyersdale High School, where he earned three All-County honors in football, basketball and baseball. Kinsinger was also named as the Ken Lantzy Finest 40 All-Star Game Defensive MVP following his senior season.

A 1999 SRU graduate, Kinsinger is currently employed as an investment advisor in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. He also serves as a football and baseball coach at Fountain Lake High School in Hot Springs, serves on the board of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and teaches youth classes at his church.
