Pat Madden (1962) was a three-time All-America selection in swimming as a collegian – in three different events. He qualified for the 1960 Olympic Trials and later became one of the top-rated master’s swimmers in the nation.

After graduation, Madden went on to coach swimming at the high school level. He then became the head coach of both the men’s and women’s swimming teams at SRU. He compiled an overall record of 100-45 at The Rock, becoming the second winningest coach in SRU swimming history. Madden recorded 646 wins in 25 seasons of high school, university, and club coaching. He also served on borough council and as mayor of the Slippery Rock borough.
