Lori Robinson Nuzzo is a former basketball and track and field Academic All-American at Slippery Rock.
 
Nuzzo lettered four seasons as a member of the SRU women’s basketball team and was a member of the track and field team in her freshman and senior years.
 
Nuzzo concluded her Rock basketball career as the school’s No. 2 all-time scorer (1,479 points) and rebounder (740). Those totals now rank third and fourth on the respective career-best lists.
 
A team captain in her senior season, Nuzzo earned the PSAC Rookie of the Year honor in 1994, garnered a second-team All-PSAC honor as a sophomore and was a first-team selection in each of her final two collegiate campaigns.
 
Nuzzo was the PSAC’s No. 2 scorer in her senior season (1998) and the only player in the conference to finish the season ranked among the leaders in scoring, rebounding, field goal shooting percentage, free throw shooting percentage, 3-point field goal shooting percentage and made 3-point field goals.
 
Nuzzo consistently earned Dean’s List honors, was a Presidential Scholar and received the 1997 Dr. William C. Meise Award as the physical education major who best combined academic and athletic excellence with professional contributions. Nuzzo’s ability to balance academic and athletic responsibilities earned her CoSIDA Academic All-America honors in 1996 and 1998.
 
Nuzzo was named in 1996 as the PSAC’s female Scholar-Athlete of the Year and received a PSAC Top Ten Award in 1996 and 1998.
 
Following completion of her collegiate career, Nuzzo went on to become a six-time Boston Marathon qualifier and set the Drake Well Marathon women’s record with a time of three hours, 22 minutes in 2011.
 
Currently the health and physical education department lead teacher at Bradford Area High School, Nuzzo earned her undergraduate degree in education with a perfect 4.0 GPA from SRU in 1997. She added a Master’s of Education degree from SRU in 1999.
 
A native of Bradford and a 1993 graduate of Bradford Area High School, Nuzzo serves as a Sunday school teacher and youth soccer and basketball coach in her hometown. She resides in Bradford with her husband Jason, son Caleb and daughter Abigail.
