Hall of Fame
Joan Anderson, a 1995 graduate from SRU, earned three All-America honors and competed in four NCAA national competitions as a cross country runner at The Rock.
A four-year letterwinner in cross country and three-year letterwinner in track and field, she also earned a berth in the NCAA outdoor track and field national championships and was the PSAC Women's Athlete of the Year in 1995.
In the classroom, Anderson earned GTE/CoSIDA Academic All-America and NCAA all-academic honors and received the Charles Brooker Scholarship Award for Exercise Science.
Following graduation from SRU, Anderson, a graduate of Lakeview High School in Stoneboro, attended graduate school at The Rock and the ITT Technical Institute.
Anderson also served as a track and field (1996-2002) and cross country (1998-2000) coach at Mercer High School. She served as head track and field coach from 2001-02 and as head cross country coach from 1998-2000. She helped lead Mercer to three successive District 10 titles in track and field, and numerous PIAA state berths in each of her seven seasons. In cross country, Joan had and a pair of PIAA state qualifiers.
