Jodi Kest (1984) was a two-time All-America women’s basketball player. She led the team in scoring in both her sophomore and junior seasons (13.6 and 18.6 points per game) and was second on the team in rebounding in those same seasons (6.2 and 7.4 rebounds per game). In her senior season, she recorded career highs in points per game with 19.8 (first on the team) and rebounds per game with 7.6 (first on the team). When her SRU playing career finished, she held both the career scoring (1,289 points) and rebounding (540) records at The Rock.
Kest was also an outstanding tennis player for The Rock. She was the No. 1 player in singles and doubles on the tennis team.
After graduating from SRU, Kest eventually went on to become the head coach of the women’s basketball team at Gannon for six seasons.
She then took over as head coach of the women’s basketball team at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. She posted a 73-40 (.646) record there, and was named Independent Coach of the Year in 2003, 2004, and 2005. In their 2004 season, the Islanders went 23-7, setting a school record for wins and winning percentage.
Kest then took a position at the University of Akron as the head women’s basketball coach, leading the team to their first double digit win season in over eight years in her first season as coach.
Kest currently holds a 236-172 (.578) record as a college head coach.
