Bridget Sheehan (1977) was an exceptional volleyball player during her time at The Rock and was named captain of the team in her senior year.

After graduating, Sheehan served as the assistant volleyball coach at Maplewood High School. She then took a position at Cochranton High School as the junior high basketball coach before becoming the head basketball and volleyball coach.

Sheehan then moved to the collegiate coaching ranks when she landed a position as head volleyball coach at Allegheny College, where she has built one of the most successful NCAA Division III programs in the country. In just her second year as head coach, Sheehan led the 1987 Gators squad to a 42-5 record, which included 37 straight wins, en route to the program’s first appearance in the NCAA tournament. The following year she led the Gators to a program record 44 wins. In that same year, Allegheny also captured the first of four straight North Coast Athletic Coast Championships.

In 2014, Sheehan became the 23rd coach in NCAA history to hit the 600-win milestone. She has been the volleyball coach at Allegheny for 30 years, and currently holds a 617-471 career record. She is Allegheny’s all-time winningest coach.

Sheehan has also served as a member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III National Ranking Committee, the NCAA Division II All-America Committee, and the NCAA Regional Selection Committee.
