JOSEPH R. DANIELS (Class of 1964) was a four-year letter winner in football and two-year award winner in gymnastics at The Rock. He earned all-district honors as a running back and was co-captain of the 1963 football team.
He recently completed his third season as an assistant football coach at Ohio State. Prior to joining the Buckeyes' staff, he served four seasons as assistant head coach and offensive coordinator at the University of Cincinnati.
Daniels began his coaching career as an assistant at Bishop McCort High School in Johnstown, where he served two seasons before joining former Rock teammate and SRU Hall of Fame inductee Denny Douds as a graduate assistant at East Stroudsburg University in 1966. He landed his first full-time position as an assistant at the University of New Hampshire one year later.
Between 1967 and 1998, when he joined the Cincinnati staff, Daniels coached at New Hampshire, Boston College, West Virginia, Pittsburgh and Akron. He also served seven seasons as a National Football League (NFL) receivers coach - three seasons with the Cleveland Browns and two seasons each with the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets.
Daniels is a 1960 graduate of Bethel Park High School.
