Rock headed to Ashland Last Chance Meet Saturday

Slippery Rock will send 95 track & field athletes to Ashland University Saturday for the Ashland Last Chance Meet for a final tune-up before the PSAC Championships next weekend.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University indoor track & field teams will send 95 athletes to Ashland University Saturday for the Ashland Last Chance Meet.

LAST CHANCE TO QUALIFY
This week's meet will be the last chance for SRU athletes to either hit a PSAC qualifying mark or improve their seed position heading into next week's PSAC Championships.
 
SRU MEN'S NOTES
The Rock will send 47 men to compete at Ashland this weekend.
 
SRU enters this weekend with eight top-50 marks in Division II so far this winter, headlined by shot put thrower Seaton Wozniak and his SRU record from last weekend of 18.17 meters, which ranks No. 8 in the country. Teammate Connor Brown (27th, 17.03m) also ranks in the top 30 in the shot put.
 
The Rock also have two men in the top 30 nationally in the pole vault, where Drew Layton sits 16th with a mark of 5.10 meters and Logan Gossard is 29th at 4.95 meters.
 
Logan Anderson is the second-highest ranked SRU athlete nationally with his heptathlon score of 5,107 points ranked No. 12 nationally. Teammate Jacob Stucchio also owns a top 50 mark nationally in the heptathlon with a score of 4,629 points ranking 47th.
 
Zach Gose rounds out the field athletes with top 50 national marks entering the weekend with his weight throw of 18.86 meters currently ranked No. 33.
 
Matthew Crow leads the way on the track with his 60-meter hurdle time of 8.13 seconds currently ranked No. 44 nationally.
 
The Rock own one No. 1 ranking in the PSAC this year with the 4x400-meter relay of Kadin Johnson, Jacob Thompson, Trey Huha and Kyle Rauchut posting the fastest time in the league at 3:17.04.

SRU WOMEN'S NOTES
The Rock will send 48 women to compete Saturday at Ashland.
 
Slippery Rock enters this week with three top 50 marks nationally, headlined by pole vaulter Allie Taylor and shot putter Olivia Heckman, who both rank No. 37 in their respective events. Heckman threw her mark of 13.70 meters in the shot put last week and that mark is currently No. 1 in the PSAC. Taylor's pole vault clearance of 3.73 meters is No. 2 in the PSAC.
 
The final top 50 mark belong to multi-event athlete Leighanne Swan, who is 46th in Division II in the pentathlon with 3,343 points.
 
The Rock have a pair of NCAA provisional marks in the long jump with Autumn Wyatt ranked No. 52 (5.78m) and Baylee Blauser ranked No. 63 (5.74m).
 
Sophomore sprinter Jianna Long owns the top mark on the track for SRU with her 400-meter dash time of 57.29 seconds ranked No. 2 in the PSAC. Distance runner Ruthie Hughes owns a pair of top five marks in the PSAC at No. 4 in the 5,000-meter run (17:42) and No. 5 in the 3,000-meter run (10:18).
