SRU'S PSAC INDOOR HISTORY
The Rock have won eight PSAC indoor titles including the last two in 2024 and 2025. SRU has finished inside the top three in the team standings in each of the last 11 PSAC indoor meets and has been top three in 18 of the 23 total PSAC indoor meets that have been contested.
Â
TEAM TITLE PREVIEW
Slippery Rock has won the last two PSAC indoor titles and is looking to pick up a third title this weekend. The Rock won the title last winter comfortably after racking up 153 points with Shippensburg placing second with 90.5 points. This year's team race will be much closer after The Rock lost more than half of those points from a year ago due to graduations and injuries with 80 individual points not returning this year. SRU enters the weekend as slight favorites, but strong challenges are expected from East Stroudsburg, California (Pa.), Bloomsburg and Shippensburg. The top spots in the team race will likely not be decided until late in the day Sunday in what is expected to be a tight battle among the top five or six teams. Based on the seed positions, only 17 points separates the top five teams entering the weekend.
Â
A LOT OF POINTS TO REPLACE
Slippery Rock won seven different events last year with wins in six individual events and one relay (distance medley), but only one of those individuals returns for SRU this year. The Rock will miss 60-meter and 200-meter champion
Samantha Gilbert and meet MVP
Anna Igims, who won the mile and 3,000-meter runs and anchored SRU to the win in the distance medley relay. SRU is also without shot put champion
Savannah Schneck, who missed this season with an injury.
Â
SRU'S RETURNING CHAMPION
Slippery Rock returns only one individual champion from a year ago in the form of PSAC Freshman of the Year
Jianna Long. Long won the 400-meter title last year as a true freshman and enters this weekend as the No. 2 seed in the event. SRU also returns two members of the winning distance medley relay in
Jennifer Cichra and
Annasophia Stauffer, who will repeat their legs this year with Cichra running the 1,200-meter leg and Stauffer taking the 400-meter leg.
Â
NO. 1 SEED
Slippery Rock enters the meet with only one No. 1 seed and that comes from
Olivia Heckman in the shot put. Heckman has led the PSAC all year and enters the meet with an NCAA provisional throw of 13.70 meters.
Â
QUALIFIED IN EVERY EVENT
Slippery Rock has at least two athletes qualified in every individual event and has three or more athletes qualified in 10 different events. The Rock have qualified a total of 37 individual women to compete this weekend. SRU will also send 40 men to compete for a total contingency of 77 qualified athletes.
Â
LOADED UP IN THE FIELD
If The Rock are to repeat as champions, it will likely take a strong showing in the field, where most of SRU's highest ranked athletes will compete. The Rock have six women qualified in both the long jump and triple jump, five women qualified in the pole vault, four in the shot put and three in the pentathlon.
Â
ATHLETES TO WATCH ON THE TRACK
Jianna Long is the only SRU athlete seeded in the top three in an individual event on the track with her No. 2 mark in the 400-meter dash. The Rock will be looking to veteran distance runner and outdoor 10,000-meter champion
Ruthie Hughes for a busy weekend that will see Hughes run in the mile, the 3,000-meter run and the 5,000-meter run. She is seeded in the top six in all three events and finished in the top three in all three last year. Freshman hurdler
Ondrea Young enters her first collegiate championship meet as the No. 5 seed in the 60-meter hurdles. SRU also enters the weekend with the No. 2 seed in the 4x400-meter relay, which will be anchored by Long. She is likely to be joined by
Shannon McCullough,
Lydia Reed and
Ava Reagle, the same foursome that ran 3:54 last weekend.
Â
WHO TO WATCH IN THE JUMPS
Allie Taylor won the PSAC outdoor title in the pole vault last spring and enters this meet seeded No. 2. The Rock have three women seeded in the top seven in both the long and triple jump with
Autumn Wyatt,
Baylee Blauser and
Alice Bogia leading that group. Freshman
Delaney Sturgeon is the highest seed in the high jump at No. 6.
Â
HECKMAN LEADS THE THROWERS
Olivia Heckman is the top seed in the shot put and will be joined
Haley Domagala as the No. 8 seed and
Becca Martin, who enters as the No. 9 seed but is coming off a third place showing last winter. Martin is a three-time All-PSAC honoree in the event.
Sydney Hale will lead the way in the weight throw and enters as the No. 8 seed.
Â
MULTI CONTINGENT
Slippery Rock could make a big swing in the pentathlon and enters with three women seeded in the top five, including No. 2 seed
Leighanne Swan, No. 3 seed
Autumn Wyatt and No. 5 seed
Maddy Miller.
Â
AWARDS AND HONORS
The top three finishers in all events will be named to the All-PSAC team and the top two teams in the team standings will take home team trophies. A number of other awards will be handed out Sunday as well, including awards for the top scholar-athletes  at the meet and Most Outstanding Athlete awards.
Â
QUALIFICATION
In order to compete this weekend, athletes had to meet the PSAC automatic qualifying mark in their respective events. If any event did not have the minimum field size of 18 athletes with qualified marks, the event was filled to the 18th best entry mark in that specific event to ensure at least 18 entries in all individual events. For the multi-event competition, the top 14 scores were accepted.
Â
SCORING
The top eight finishers in the final round of each of the 17 events will be awarded team points in the following order: 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1.
