Results
ASHLAND, Ohio – The Slippery Rock University women's track & field team recorded 13 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference qualifying marks and two event wins at the Ashland Last Chance Meet Saturday at Ashland University.
The highlight of the meet belonged to the 4x400-meter relay team of
Jianna Long,
Shannon McCullough,
Lydia Reed and
Ava Reagle, which won the event by shattering SRU's season best with a time of 3:54.32. That moves the unit all the way up to No. 2 in the PSAC this year and guarantees a spot in the fast heat of the PSAC final next weekend.
Long and Reed also both hit the PSAC standard in the 200-meter dash with Long placing third in 25.55 seconds and Reed finishing fourth in 25.92 seconds. Reagle met the PSAC standard on the number in the 60-meter dash to place sixth in 7.90 seconds.
The other event win Saturday came from
Alice Bogia, who won the triple jump with a leap of 11.36 meters.
Slippery Rock had a pair of distance runners lock up spots at the PSAC championships Saturday with
Madison Smalheer placing eighth in the 800-meter run in a PSAC time of 2:20.24 and
Carissa Flynn finishing fourth in the mile in 5:15.51.
Freshman hurdlers
Ondrea Young and
Kathryn Morrison closed out the top marks on the track with PSAC qualifying times in the 60-meter hurdles. Young took third in 9.00 seconds with Morrison placing fourth in 9.16 seconds.
Olivia Heckman led the throwers with a fourth place showing in the shot put with a toss of 13.33 meters. She was joined in reaching the PSAC standard by
Haley Domagala, who took ninth with a throw of 12.49 meters.
Delaney Sturgeon led the way in the vertical jumps with a runner-up finish in the high jump after clearing 1.64 meters.
Allie Taylor led the way in the pole vault in third place with a mark of 3.45 meters.
Baylee Blauser closed out the PSAC qualifying marks with a second place showing in the long jump with a leap of 5.57 meters.
Slippery Rock will now shift focus to the PSAC Championships next Saturday and Sunday at Lehigh University.
