Rock sending 92 athletes to YSU Friday

The Rock indoor track & field teams will return to action with 92 athletes scheduled to compete Friday at the YSU Collegiate Invitational.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University indoor track & field teams will return to action Friday at the YSU Collegiate Invitational hosted by Youngstown State University.
 
BACK IN ACTION
Slippery Rock returns to action for the first time since the opening weeks of December after a long break for the holidays and between the fall and spring semester. The Rock will now compete in at least one meet every week through the end of the indoor season in early March.

Bethany, Charleston, Chicago State, Davis & Elkins, Duquesne, Fairmont State, Franciscan, Frostburg State, Point Park, Rio Grande, Slippery Rock, West Virginia and Youngstown State.
 
SRU MEN'S NOTES
The Rock will send 44 men to compete Friday at YSU with a handful of athletes with national qualifying marks headlining the team.
 
SRU returns to action with eight top-50 marks in Division II so far this winter, headlined by shot put thrower Seaton Wozniak and his SRU record of 17.96 meters, which ranks No. 6 in the country. Teammate Connor Brown sits 14th in Division II with a toss of 17.03 meters.
 
The Rock also have two men in the top 10 nationally in the pole vault, where Drew Layton sits eighth with a mark of 5.05 meters and Logan Gossard is ninth at 4.95 meters.
 
Logan Anderson is the highest ranked SRU athlete currently with his heptathlon score of 5,107 points ranked No. 4 nationally. Anderson will compete in multiple events this week. Teammate Jacob Stucchio also owns a top 25 mark nationally in the heptathlon with a score of 4,629 points ranking 23rd.
 
Matthew Crow leads the way on the track with his 60-meter hurdle time of 8.13 seconds currently ranked No. 22 nationally. Zach Gose closes out the SRU men with top 50 national marks with his weight throw mark of 17.49 meters ranked No. 46.

Slippery Rock will also send its distance runners Friday to make their indoor debut after sitting out the December meet coming off the fall cross country season.

The Rock will send 48 women to compete Friday at YSU.
 
Slippery Rock enters this week with 11 top 50 marks nationally, headlined by jumpers Baylee Blauser and Alice Bogia, who both rank in the top 50 in the long and triple jumps. Blauser owns the lone NCAA mark on the team with her long jump of 5.74 meters currently ranked No. 23. She also ranks No. 26 in the triple jump (11.56m). Bogia is 31st nationally in the triple (11.50m) and 44th in the long (5.60m).
 
Jianna Long leads the way on the track with her 400-meter time of 57.29 seconds currently ranked No. 24 nationally. Long also teamed with Evabella Cox, Shannon McCullough and Ava Reagle to post the No. 45 time in the 4x400-meter relay at 4:01.52.
 
Olivia Heckman enters this weekend ranked 33rd nationally in the shot put (13.33m) to lead the throwers. Delaney Sturgeon is 33rd nationally in the high jump at 1.65 meters and Allie Taylor is 47th in the pole vault (3.55m).
 
The other top 50 marks belong to multi-event athletes Leighanne Swan and Autumn Wyatt. Swan is 34th in Division II with 3,228 points and Wyatt is 46th at 3,100 points.
