SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Logan Anderson broke an 11-year old program record in the heptathlon to lead the Slippery Rock University men's track & field team at the Susquehanna Early Season Multi that wrapped up Sunday from Susquehanna University.

The Rock sent just three men to Susquehanna this weekend with most of the team competing Friday at Youngstown State.

Anderson opened his sophomore season with a bang by winning the seven-event heptathlon at Susquehanna with an NCAA provisional qualifying score of 5,083 points. That effort marked a career-best and broke the former Slippery Rock program record of 5,021 points that was set by Hans Lubuch in 2014. His score currently ranks No. 1 in the PSAC and No. 2 in Division II after the opening weekend of competition.

In addition to his overall performance, Anderson also hit the PSAC automatic qualifying mark in the high jump with a clearance of 1.96 meters and in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.61 seconds.

Jacob Stucchio also hit a career-best score in the heptathlon this weekend to take second behind Anderson with a mark of 4,605 points, giving The Rock a 1-2 sweep of the top spots. He was just shy of the NCAA provisional standard of 4,749 points.

Ethan Folmer finished sixth with 3,942 points to round out the SRU efforts at Susquehanna.

Most of the SRU roster will break now for finals, the semester break and the holidays before returning to action in mid-January. A select group of SRU athletes will visit the University of Akron Dec. 12 for the Haynes Lancaster Open.
