SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock University will open the 2025-26 indoor track and field season this weekend with 58 student-athletes set to compete Friday at Youngstown State University at the YSU Icebreaker and seven athletes headed to Susquehanna University Saturday and Sunday for the Riverhawk Multi.

OPENING WEEKEND
The Rock will send 58 student-athletes to Youngstown State University Friday afternoon for the YSU Icebreaker at the Watson and Tressel Training Site (WATTS). A separate group of seven multi-event athletes are scheduled to compete Saturday and Sunday at Susquehanna University.

The Rock will send 27 men to Youngstown Friday to compete in 10 individual events and one relay.

Slippery Rock will be led Friday by seven returning All-Region performers from last winter in the form of
Matthew Crow (sprints and hurdles),
Zach Gose (throws),
Logan Gossard (pole vault),
Drew Layton (pole vault),
Ryan Oleksy (throws),
Bradon Schneider (pole vault) and
Seaton Wozniak (throws). Layton earned a pair of All-America honors at both the indoor and outdoor national meets last year and capped his spring by setting the all-time PSAC outdoor record in the pole vault. Wozniak also closed his 2024-25 season with an All-America honor in the shot put outdoors.

Anderson is coming off a stellar freshman year where he qualified for and took 13th in the decathlon at the outdoor national championships.

A foursome of multi-event veterans will represent The Rock at Susquehanna in the pentathlon with all five events set to be contested Saturday. Miller headlines the group after she posted the No. 7 mark in the PSAC last year. All four SRU entries this weekend are PSAC qualifiers from a year ago.

The vast majority of the SRU roster will break for finals, the semester break and the holidays before returning to action Jan. 16 at Youngstown State. AÂ select group of SRU athletes will compete next Friday, Dec. 12, at the University of Akron. A preview for that competition will be posted next week.
