Anderson leads Rock men at YSU

Logan Anderson tallied an NCAA provisional score in the heptathlon to lead The Rock men's track & field team to five top 10 finishes at the YSU Mid-Major Invitational that wrapped up Saturday night.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Slippery Rock University men's indoor track & field team recorded six Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference qualifying marks, one NCAA provisional mark and five top 10 finishes at the YSU Mid-Major Invitational hosted by Youngstown State University this weekend.
 
The Rock split the squad this week with only the multi-event athletes, pole vaulters and select distance runners competing at YSU Friday and Saturday, while the majority of the team competed Saturday at Mount Union and racked up seven event wins (recap from that meet HERE).
 
Logan Anderson led the way at YSU with a third place finish and an NCAA provisional score in the heptathlon after tallying 5,006 points. Jacob Stucchio took ninth with 4,213 points and Ethan Folmer was 13th with 3,994 points.
 
Anderson also met the PSAC standards in the 60-meter hurdles and the long jump during the heptathlon, recording a leap of 6.86 meters in the long jump and clocking a time of 8.54 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles.  
 
A trio of pole vaulters met the PSAC standard Saturday with Logan Gossard leading the way in eighth place with a clearance of 4.71 meters. Christian Crowley was 13th at 4.56 meters and Scott Finch was 17th at 4.41 meters.
 
Eli Schreiber led the way on the track with a 10th place finish in the 5,000-meter run with a PSAC qualifying time of 15:20.26.
 
The Rock's distance medley relay also put in a strong showing with a fourth place finish in 10:34.01 from the team of Lincoln Bouman, Josiah Vidzro, Brady Hoffman and Michael Gauntner.

Slippery Rock will travel its greatest distance of the indoor season next week with a trip to Grand Valley State in Allendale, Michigan next Saturday.
