SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's track and field team finished third at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships that concluded Saturday evening from Shippensburg University.

The Rock were in the mix for the runner-up trophy all day before running out of steam late in the day. Shippensburg ran away with the team title with 273 points for its 12th straight PSAC title. East Stroudsburg edged The Rock for second with 106.5 points. SRU finished with 91.5 points for third. Edinboro was a distant fourth with 68 points and Seton Hill rounded out the top five with 66 points.

Slippery Rock finished the day with three All-PSAC honorees in individual events with
John Eakin taking second in the shot put,
Bryan Dworek finishing third in the 200-meter dash and the 4x100-meter relay team taking second.

Eakin threw a career-best 16.02 meters to finish second in the shot put and pick up eight points.
Eric Schulz placed fifth with a mark of 14.59 meters to give The Rock 12 total points in the event.

Dworek ran a season-best time of 21.97 seconds to place third in the 200-meter dash.
Parker Reed was seventh in 22.44 seconds as the duo scored eight points in the team standings. Both men also scored in the 100-meter dash with Dworek placing fourth in 10.80 seconds and Reed finishing eighth in 10.98 seconds.

Dworek and Reed also teamed with
Jonathan Marfisi and
Mitch Vleminckx to place second in the 4x100-meter relay in 42.24 seconds.

Zach Wise was the next best finisher on the track Saturday with a fourth place finish in the 110-meter hurdles after he posted a season-best time of 14.66 seconds.
Brenden Lewis finished eighth in 15.82 seconds for a total of six points in the event.

Gunner Coleman and
Damion Reed Jr. both scored in the 400-meter hurdles with Coleman placing sixth in 56.94 seconds and Reed Jr. finishing eighth in 57.61 seconds.

Daron Cooper scored with a seventh place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 13.17 meters to cap the scorers for SRU on the final day of the meet.

Saturday's competition marked the end of the 2021 season for The Rock as SRU does not have any men currently high enough on the national ranking lists to qualify for the national meet.
