SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's track & field team picked up eight points from
Zach Gose on the opening day of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships Thursday from Shippensburg University.

The Rock sit fifth in the team standings after the first of three days of competition after only the hammer throw and 10,000-meter event finals were contested Thursday.

Shippensburg jumped out to an early lead with 21 points, followed by East Stroudsburg with 10, Bloomsburg with nine, Kutztown with nine and Slippery Rock with eight.

Gose picked up All-PSAC honors with a second place finish in the hammer throw with an NCAA provisional mark of 59.73 meters to score the lone points for SRU on the opening day of action.

The first half of the decathlon also took place Thursday and all three SRU entries currently sit in the top eight positions with five events to go.
Logan Anderson leads the event with 3,741 points, with
Jacob Stucchio in fourth place with 3,407 points and
Ethan Folmer in eighth place with 3,290 points. Anderson had a strong day overall, opening with a 10.97-second effort in the 100-meter dash, recording a leap of 7.05 meters in the long jump and clearing a career-best 2.00 meters in the high jump.

Alex Morris was the top finisher for The Rock in the 10,000-meter finals with an 11th place finish in 32:00.74.
