Rock places six on Academic All-District team

Six members of the Slippery Rock men's track & field and cross country program were named to Academic All-District honors when the College Sports Communicators announced its 2025-26 Academic All-District teams Tuesday.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's track & field and cross country teams placed six student-athletes on the Academic All-District Team when the College Sports Communicators announced the 2025-26 Academic All-District Track & Field and Cross Country teams Tuesday.

The Rock are represented on the team by Logan Anderson, Matthew Crow, Zach Gose, Drew Layton, John Juszynski and Seaton Wozniak. Crow and Wozniak become three-time Academic All-District honorees, while Layton becomes a two-time honoree and the other three selections pick up their first career awards.

In order to be nominated for the Academic All-America program and selected to an Academic All-District team, student-athletes must be at least sophomores in academic and athletic standing, must finish in the top 50 of a regional cross country championship or rank in the top 50 in the region in an individual track & field event, and should have significant athletic credentials, such as All-Conference, All-Region or All-America.

Each school in the country can nominate a total of six men from the combined sports of cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field to be placed on the Academic All-District team. A national committee then decides which student-athletes advance to the ballot for the Academic All-America team.

Slippery Rock advanced four of its six All-District selections with Anderson, Gose, Layton and Wozniak all being moved forward to the Academic All-America ballot. Wozniak is looking to become a three-time Academic All-American after making the teams in both 2024 and 2025, while Layton is looking for a second straight Academic All-America award after making the team in 2025.

A look at the academic and athletic accomplishments of The Rock's six Academic All-District selections can be found below. Voting by the nation's athletic communication professionals will take place over the next week and the Academic All-America team will be announced July 14.

He broke the SRU and all-time PSAC records in the indoor heptathlon (5,323 points) on his way to earning first team All-America honors. He earned All-PSAC honors in the steeplechase with a third place finish to mark his second career All-PSAC honor in the event.

In addition to his excellence in the classroom, Wozniak also earned All-America honors during both the indoor and outdoor seasons in the shot put and won a pair of PSAC titles in two different disciplines in 2025-26. He claimed the indoor title in the shot put with an SRU record of 18.40 meters, which ranked seventh in the nation this winter. He followed that up by winning the PSAC title in the discus throw this spring while also ranking 10th in the nation in the shot put this spring. He closed his career as a three-time All-American with four straight top-15 finishes in the shot put at the National Championships.
