2026-27 Roster
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University women's basketball team was picked to finish eighth in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division this season, the league office announced Thursday with the unveiling of its annual preseason poll.
Indiana (Pa.), the defending PSAC champions and national runner-up, were picked to win the PSAC West after being allotted seven first-place votes. IUP was joined in the top five of the preseason predictions by Gannon, Edinboro, California (Pa.) and Lock Haven. GU earned the final two first-place votes.
The back half of the PSAC West poll featured Clarion, Pitt-Johnstown, The Rock and Seton Hill.
Opinions on the Eastern Division were much more divided as three teams earned at least one first-place vote. East Stroudsburg (3) was narrowly tabbed to win the division followed by Kutztown (3), Millersville (2), Bloomsburg, West Chester, Shepherd, Shippensburg and Mansfield.
New this year, is the return of Lock Haven to the PSAC West after spending the past 12 seasons in the PSAC East. The Bald Eagles' move to the Western Division coincides with the eventual arrival to the Eastern Division of Lackawanna, which will play a full conference schedule this season without counting towards the league standings.
The top six teams in both the Western Division and Eastern Division standings at the end of the regular season qualify for the PSAC Tournament.
With a roster featuring nine returners and a talented four-athlete recruiting class, Slippery Rock has the chance to prove the predictions wrong and earn its first conference tournament berth since 2017-18.
COACHING STAFF
Head coach
Ryenn Micaletti returns for her fourth season in charge of the Slippery Rock women's basketball program. Micaletti will be joined on the sidelines by
Imani Watkins, who is in her first season at SRU after spending last year at Division I Lafayette College. Along with Micaletti and Watkins will be third-year volunteer assistant
Courtney Haines.
SENIORS / 5TH YEAR ATHLETES
One of the strongest veteran classes at The Rock in recent memory, the quartet of forward
Alyssa Gillin, guard
Regan Atkins, guard
Sophia Hook and forward
Mairan Haggerty are all back for another year in the program.
Gillin enjoyed a breakout season last year. One of two Rock athletes to start all 26 games in 2025-26, the versatile forward averaged 11.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.6 blocks and 1.2 assists per game across 32.2 minutes a contest all the while shooting 41.7 percent from the field overall, 33.6 percent from 3-point range (47-140) and 60 percent at the foul line. She ranked fourth in the PSAC in blocks and sixth in 3-pointers made per game (1.8).
Gillin opens her final collegiate season 26 blocks away from breaking Christy Wessell's program record of 92 that has stood for the last 33 years. She also currently ranks 13th in program history in career 3-pointers made (87).
One of the biggest "additions" any PSAC team will have the luxury of this season, a fully healthy Atkins returns to The Rock's lineup after missing last season due to injury. The 2023-24 PSAC West Freshman of the Year and 2024-25 All-PSAC West guard has recorded career averages of 13.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.6 assists and just under one steal per game over 46 appearances at SRU.
Arguably Slippery Rock's top perimeter threat, Hook is coming off a career-year in 2025-26 in which she averaged 10.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.0 assists per game. She also set personal-best marks in 3-pointers made (40), field goal percentage (.385) and 3-point field goal percentage (.345).
Hook, who ranked 12th in the PSAC in 3-pointers per game last season (1.5), begins the season 18th in program history in 3-pointers made (73).
Now in her third year with the program after transferring from Seton Hill prior to the 2024-25 season, Haggerty has played in every game over the last two seasons with consistant SRU career averages of 6.2 points and 3.3 rebounds a game.
JUNIORS
Slippery Rock's junior class is made up of one returner – guard
Hannah Pugliese – and a pair of transfers in forward
Adela Cecunjanin and guard / forward
Katie Grexa.
After appearing in just 10 games as a freshman, Pugliese earned an uptick in playing time a year ago. She came off the bench in 26 games, playing 6.7 minutes per game.
One of four newcomers this season, Grexa comes to The Rock after opening her collegiate career with stops at Lake Erie (2024-25) and Westminster College (2025-26). The Hartford, Ohio native is a veteran of 48 collegiate games over the last two years. She ranked eighth in the Presidents' Athletic Conference in total blocks last season (24) while at Westminster.
A proven winner, Cecunjanin has helped lead her JUCO teams to a 56-9 overall record the last two seasons at the Community College of Baltimore County Essex (2024-25) and Monroe University (2025-26). Cecunjanin has played 63 games over the last two years between Essex and Monroe, averaging 7.8 points, 5.5 rebounds and just under one steal per game while shooting 43.8 percent from the field overall and 33.8 percent from 3-point range.
SOPHOMORES
All four members of The Rock's 2025-26 rookie class –
Jorja Bernesser,
Sarah Chawki,
Claudia Ierullo and
Iyanna Wade - return for their sophomore seasons to go with the addition of Monroe University transfer guard
Sheridan Oberhand.
Simply put, Wade was one of the most dynamic rookie guards not only in the PSAC but all of Division II last year. A starter in all 26 games, Wade averaged 14 points, 4.2 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game while playing 36 minutes a contest en route to being named the PSAC West Freshman of the Year. She ranked third in the entire PSAC in assists per game and 15th in scoring.
Nationally, Wade was fifth among all Division II freshmen in assists per game, eighth in assist-turnover ratio (1.4), and 14th in scoring all the while setting a Slippery Rock program record for minutes played by a freshman (937) and ranking second in SRU rookie history in assists, fourth in points scored and fifth in 3-pointers made (25).
Bernesser (16), Chawki (13) and Ierullo (13) all appeared in at least half of The Rock's games as freshmen and will compete for expanded roles as sophomores.
A teammate of Cecunjanin at Monroe, Oberhand helped to lead the Mustangs to a 23-7 record as a freshman in 2025-26 that included a berth into the NJCAA Division I Tournament She appeared in all 30 games as a freshman with five starts and averaged 5.3 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.3 steals per game.
A ROOKIE CLASS OF ONE
The lone freshman on this year's team is talented prospect
Isabelle Carson, a forward out of Maitland, Ontario. Carson was arguably the most effective Rock athlete in SRU's recent exhibition at Kent State as she scored 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting in 17 minutes against the Division I Golden Flashes.
