CSC PRESS RELEASE
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's basketball team had three student-athletes selected for the 2025-26 College Sports Comunicators Academic All-District Team, the organization announced Tuesday.
In order to be eligible to earn a CSC Academic All-District selection, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically and own a cumulative GPA above 3.50 while having significant athletic credentials. Additionally, athletes must have competed in 90 percent of their institution's games or have started in at least 66 percent of its games.
Representing The Rock on this year's team was senior forward
Alyssa Gillin, junior guard
Sophia Hook and graduate student guard
Karianna Woods. Gillin, Hook and Woods are all first-time honorees with Slippery Rock.
Slippery Rock recently completed its 2025-26 season with a 7-19 overall record and a 5-15 mark inside the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division.
A brief look at the accomplishments of each of The Rock's three Academic All-District selections can be found below.
ALYSSA GILLIN
GPA: 3.54
MAJOR: Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering
• Gillin started all 26 games for The Rock this season and averaged 11.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.6 blocks per game in 838 minutes (32.3 mpg). Gillin ended the season with the second-most blocks in a single season for a Rock athlete. Also, Gillin was the only player in Division II to reach 40 blocks and 40 made 3-pointers in the regular season in 2025-26.
SOPHIA HOOK
GPA: 4.00
MAJOR: Accounting
• Hook appeared in all 26 games for Slippery Rock, earning starts in 23 of the 26 contests. Hook averaged 10.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.2 steals in 852 minutes (32.8 mpg). Hook scored the most points in a single game for SRU this season with 27 in a double overtime win at Shippensburg University.
KARIANNA WOODS
GPA: 3.70
MAJOR: MBA
• Woods played in 24 games for SRU, while starting 21 matchups. On the season, Woods averaged 7.9 points, 2.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.6 steals per game in 688 minutes (28.7 mpg). Woods was second on Slippery Rock with 38 steals as well as a shooting 40.8 percent overall from the field.
