BREAKING DOWN THE ROCK'S ENTRIES
•  102 individual athletes qualified (53 men, 49 women)
•  145 total entries (77 men, 68 women)
•  Athletes qualified in 41 of the 42 total events
•  At least three qualifiers in 32 of the 38 individual events
•  At least five qualifiers in eight different events
•  At least seven qualifiers in three different events
•  SRU is seeded No. 1 in 11 different events
•  SRU has seven returning champions from 2024 (six individual, one relay)

SRU MEN'S PREVIEW
Slippery Rock has qualified an incredible 53 men and will have 77 total entries on the men's side. The Rock are qualified in 20 of the 21 events with the 800-meter run being the only event this week that will not feature any SRU athletes. Slippery Rock enters the meet with at least three qualifiers in 17 of the 19 individual events and will have seven men competing in the pole vault and eight in the hammer.

The Rock have three No. 1 seeds on the men's side with Kanye Thompson in the 100-meter dash (10.27), Drew Layton in the pole vault (5.05m) and the 4x100-meter relay of Thompson, Benny Whitaker, AJ Virata and Matthew Crow, which has a season-best of 40.50 seconds.

SRU has four returning champions on the men's side with Thompson winning the 100-meter dash in 2024, Matthew Crow winning the 110-meter hurdles and Joshua Gose winning the shot put. The Rock also won the 4x100-meter relay last year. In addition to last year's champions, Slippery Rock also returns 2023 200-meter champion AJ Virata, who broke the all-time PSAC record at this meet when SRU hosted it in 2023.

Other top athletes for The Rock entering the meet include shot putter Seaton Wozniak and hammer thrower Zach Gose, who are both No. 2 seeds with NCAA provisional marks this spring. Javelin throwers Josh Kingerski and Joseph Reed both have NCAA marks in the javelin and enter the meet seeded sixth in a deep competition. Multi-event athletes Logan Anderson and Zack Duda are both top five seeds in a decathlon competition that could go down as the deepest ever among the top five finishers. Only once in PSAC history have the top three finishers been over 6,500 points and this year's field could produce three or more athletes above that standard. SRU is loaded in the pole vault, where All-Region honorees Dan Hyatt, Logan Gossard, Andy Huynh and Bradon Schneider will join All-American Layton in the competition. The Rock's distance squad will be led by Troy Hart in the longer distances, Joey Cintavey in the 1,500-meter run and John Juszynski in the steeplechase.

Shippensburg and East Stroudsburg enter the meet as the favorites for the team title as the Warriors have exploded onto the scene this year with significant depth at the top of multiple events, including the jumps and throws. The Rock are projected to finish third based on the seed positions after taking second last year and edging ESU by just under 10 points for the runner-up spot. SRU is looking for its 11th consecutive top three finish at the PSAC Outdoor Championships.

SRU WOMEN'S PREVIEW
Slippery Rock has qualified an incredible 49 women and will have 68 total entries on the women's side. The Rock are qualified in all 21 events and enter the meet with at least three qualifiers in 15 of the 19 individual events. SRU will have five women in the 400-meter dash, five in the pole vault, five in the shot put, six in the long jump and seven in the triple jump.

Slippery Rock enters the meet with the No. 1 seed in eight of the 21 events on the women's side with distance standout Anna Igims owning the top seed in three different events (1,500m (4:41), 5,000m (16:38), 3,000m steeplechase (10:17)). Igims will be trying to complete an undefeated year in the PSAC after she won the 2024 cross country title before winning indoor titles in the mile, 3,000-meter run and the distance medley relay. Igims, who is an 11-time PSAC champion, has been beaten only once on the track in her last 10 PSAC championship races when she took second in the 1,500-meter run last outdoor season.

SRU also owns the No. 1 seed in the 10,000-meter run with Ruthie Hughes (35:48) to rank No. 1 in every distance event from 1,500-meters up. Samantha Gilbert enters the meet ranked No. 1 in the 100-meter dash (11.83) and No. 2 in the 200-meter dash (24.60) while also running the lead leg of the top ranked 4x100-meter relay (46.77), where she joins with Regan Johnson, Layne Miller and Jianna Long. The Rock have two No. 1 seeds in the field with shot putter Sarah Corrie looking for another title (14.50m) and pole vaulter Allie Taylor (3.85m) coming in after setting a career-best in each of the last two weeks.

SRU has two returning champions in three events with Igims winning the 5,000-meter run and the steeplechase last spring and Corrie winning the shot put.

Other top athletes for The Rock include Long in the 400-meter dash, where she will try to complete a season sweep as a true freshman after winning the indoor title during the winter. Jumpers Baylee Blauser and Aleks Brozeski will lead the way in the horizontal jumps with Brozeski being a former PSAC champion in the triple jump and Blauser entering as the No. 2 seed in the long jump. The Rock are loaded in the shot put with Becca Martin and Olivia Heckman being seeded No. 2 and No. 4 to give SRU three of the top four seeds. Isabella Bartoletti has the NCAA provisional mark in the javelin, where she ranks fourth in a strong field. SRU will look to Jennifer Cichra to lead the way in the mid-distance races and for Hannah Burgoon and Maddie Grillo to join Igims in scoring spots in the steeplechase.

Slippery Rock enters the meet as the favorites for the team title, looking to complete a calendar sweep of PSAC championships after winning the cross country title in the fall and the indoor track & field title in the winter. The Rock are looking for their 18th overall PSAC outdoor title and their first since 2023. SRU has placed in the top two 33 times at the outdoor championships with 17 titles and 16 runner-up finishes. Defending champion Shippensburg, along with Millersville and East Stroudsburg, are projected to challenge for the top spots in the team race.
