Igims, Gilbert named to PSAC Top 10 team

Slippery Rock track & field standouts Anna Igims and Samantha Gilbert were named to the PSAC Winter Top 10 team in recognition of their excellence in competition and in the classroom following the indoor track & field season.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Slippery Rock University track & field standouts Anna Igims and Samantha Gilbert were named to Top 10 honors when the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its Winter Top 10 team Wednesday.

The Rock's two selections this winter tied with West Chester and Clarion, which each had one male and one female honoree, for the most selections in the PSAC. Since the inception of the Top 10 program in 1994, Slippery Rock has had a league-high total of 88 student-athletes recognized.

The PSAC Top 10 recognizes five men and five women in each of the three sports seasons throughout the academic year and celebrates excellence in the classroom and in competition. Each school can nominate two men and two women for the award, which is voted on by the league's athletic communication professionals. To be eligible, students must be at least sophomores in academic and athletic standing, must own a cumulative GPA above 3.50 and must have significant athletic achievements. The winter award winners are selected from the following sports: men's and women's basketball, men's and women's swimming and diving, men's and women's track & field and wrestling.

Igims, a graduate student from Pittsburgh, earns her fourth consecutive Top 10 honor. She was also recognized in the winter and spring of the 2023-24 academic year and the fall of the 2024-25 academic year.
