SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's track & field team swept the top three places in the pentathlon at the Susquehanna Early Season Multi Saturday at Susquehanna University.
The Rock sent just four women to Susquehanna this weekend with most of the team
competing Friday at Youngstown State.
Leighanne Swan led the way in the multi with a career-best score of 3,206 points on her way to winning the competition. It marked an improvement of more than 300 points on her previous career-best and is the first time she has ever topped the 3,000-point mark.
Autumn Wyatt took second with a career-best of her own with 3,079 points, which also marked the first time in her career that she has topped the 3,000-point mark. Wyatt also hit the PSAC automatic qualifying mark in the long jump with a leap of 5.41 meters.
Maddy Miller was third with 2,997 points to give The Rock a sweep of the top three spots and
Kate Walasavage finished sixth with a score of 2,467 points. Miller also recorded a PSAC qualifying mark in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.35 seconds.
Slippery Rock will close the opening weekend of the season Sunday with three men finishing up the multi at Susquehanna. Logan Anderson led the competition after Saturday's events, while Jacob Stucchio was third and Ethan Folmer was 2,434 points.
