INDIANAPOLIS – Slippery Rock University distance runner
Anna Igims competed in the 5,000-meter run at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field National Championships Thursday evening in Indianapolis.
Â
Igims, a graduate student from Pittsburgh, wrapped up her indoor career at SRU with a 17th place finish in the 5,000-meter finals after posting a time of 16:56.25. Â
Â
She was making her indoor nationals debut and was the lone representative from The Rock women's track & field team to qualify for nationals this winter. SRU will be represented on the men's side by pole vaulter Drew Layton and shot putter Seaton Wozniak, who will both compete Saturday.
Â
Igims closes the indoor portion of her career as a seven-time PSAC champion after she went undefeated at the PSAC Championships over the last two seasons. She will now shift her focus to the outdoor track & field season, where she owns the SRU record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase after earning first team All-America honors in the event last spring.
Â
The Rock track & field program will open the 2025 outdoor season March 20-22 at UNC-Charlotte.
