Rock earns four PSAC major awards for indoor season

The Rock track & field coaching staff and individuals Anna Igims, Jianna Long and Logan Anderson earned major awards from the PSAC when the league announced its indoor track & field yearly awards Wednesday.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University track & field program took home four major awards when the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its 2024-25 indoor track & field postseason awards Wednesday, with the SRU coaching staff, Anna Igims, Jianna Long and Logan Anderson all being recognized.

The Rock earned three of the four major awards on the women's side and one of the awards on the men's side, winning Coaching Staff of the Year, Track Athlete of the Year (Igims) and Freshman of the Year (Long) on the women's side and sweeping the rookie awards by winning Freshman of the Year (Anderson) on the men's side as well.

The coaching staff, led by head coach Bill Jordan, was named the PSAC Women's Coaching Staff of the Year for the second straight year after The Rock claimed the 2025 indoor title by winning the meet by the largest scoring margin since 2012. Jordan, Over, who coaches the distance runners, and assistant coach Tabitha Bemis, who coaches the jumpers and multi-event athletes, are the three full-time coaches on The Rock staff.

The rest of the staff, many of which are part time or volunteer positions, includes Nathan Shadeck (sprints, hurdles and relays), Judy Geist (throws), Jim Geist (throws), Vanere Maynard (sprints), Andrew Maxwell (distance), Joshua Gose (graduate assistant - throws), Taye Lynch (graduate assistant - jumps) and full-time certified athletic trainer Jordan Kissner.

Igims, a graduate student from Pittsburgh, repeats as the PSAC Indoor Track Athlete of the Year after also winning the honor in 2024. She ran her streak of unbeaten races at the PSAC indoor meet to seven straight with three more titles this year, winning the distance medley relay, mile and 3,000-meter run. Igims posted the 15th-best time in the country this winter in the 5,000-meter run and was the only female track & field athlete from the PSAC to qualify for nationals. She earned All-Region honors in four different events, putting up the No. 1 time in the Atlantic Region in the mile (4:55), 3,000-meter run (9:52) and 5,000-meter run (16:36) while anchoring the fastest distance medley relay in the region.

In addition to the PSAC major honor, Igims was also named the Atlantic Region Female Track Athlete of the Year by the USTFCCCA earlier this spring. She has now been named the PSAC and Atlantic Region Athlete of the Year in both cross country and indoor track & field during the 2024-25 academic year.

She posted a season-best and NCAA provisional time of 56.60 seconds in the 400m while also helping SRU to the fourth-best 4x400-meter relay time in the league at 3:56.91.
