SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's track & field team recorded 26 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference qualifying marks, one NCAA provisional mark, nine event wins and 52 top-10 finishes at the John Papa Invitational hosted by SRU Thursday.

The lone NCAA mark of the day came from Sarah Corrie, who uncorked a season-best throw of 14.50 meters to win the shot put. Her throw currently ranks No. 1 in the PSAC and No. 14 among all throwers in Division II this spring. SRU picked up a pair of wins in the throws as Eva Tokar recorded a career-best effort in the javelin to win with a throw of 41.50 meters, just shy of the NCAA standard (42.12m). Tokar's previous career-best was 37.39 meters entering the meet.

The Rock also picked up a win in the long jump with Baylee Blauser recording a season-best leap of 5.80 meters, just missing the NCAA standard there as well (5.86m).

Slippery Rock swept the two relays Thursday with the "A" team running in both races. Samantha Gilbert, Regan Johnson, Layne Miller and Jianna Long won the 4x100-meter relay with a season-best time of 46.77 seconds to lower their top-ranked PSAC time. Gilbert and Long then closed out their day by teaming with Annasophia Stauffer and Lydia Reed to win the 4x400-meter relay in 3:56.71.

Gilbert and Long also picked up individual wins Thursday with Gilbert taking the 100-meter dash title in 11.86 seconds and Long winning the 200-meter dash in 25.02 seconds.

The other two wins on the track came from the distance runners with Ruthie Hughes winning the 5,000-meter run and Hannah Burgoon claiming the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Hughes clocked a time of 17:56.58 for a comfortable win in the 5K and Burgoon posted a PSAC qualifying time of 11:46.56 to win the steeplechase.

Thursday's meet marked the second of four home meets for The Rock this spring, which will include the 2025 PSAC Championships May 8-10.
