Bartoletti, Bogia lead Rock at Ohio meets

Isabella Bartoletti improved her season-best and won the javelin at Akron and Alice Bogia won the triple jump at Baldwin Wallace to highlight the efforts of five SRU women's track & field athletes that competed at a pair of meets in Ohio this week.

AKRON, Ohio – Five Slippery Rock female track & field athletes competed in a pair of "Last Chance" meets this week at the University of Akron and Baldwin Wallace University and all five recorded top 10 finishes in their respective events. Isabella Bartoletti headlined the group at the University of Akron when she won the javelin throw with a season-best and NCAA provisional mark of 44.33 meters. That effort moved her up to No. 30 on the Division II national list this spring.

The Rock also got an NCAA mark at Akron from Alice Bogia, who took second in the triple jump with a leap of 12.09 meters. It marked the second best jump in her career, just below her season-best of 12.14 meters that currently ranks No. 25 in Division II. Bogia was also third in the long jump with a leap of 5.58 meters at Akron and also won the triple jump at the Harrison Dillard Twilight at Baldwin Wallace with a leap of 11.71 meters.

She was joined in the jumps by Baylee Blauser and Tayla Kurzawa this week with Blauser finishing eighth in the long jump at Akron (5.18m) and Kurzawa finishing fifth in the triple jump at Baldwin Wallace (11.24m).

Allie Taylor rounded out the SRU women in action this week with a third place finish in the pole vault at Baldwin Wallace, where she cleared 3.68 meters to mark her second best effort this spring.

This week marked the final chance to improve on any marks for the NCAA qualification process. SRU athletes that have met the NCAA standards in their events will find out next Tuesday if they are high enough on the declaration list to be accepted to compete in the National Championships May 21-23 in Kansas.
