SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University track & field teams will send more than 100 student-athletes to two different meets Friday and Saturday with a small group heading to North Carolina State University to compete in the Raleigh Relays while the rest of the team competes at West Liberty University's Tim Weaver Invitational.

RALEIGH RELAYS PREVIEW
Slippery Rock will send just 10 athletes to the Raleigh Relays, which is one of the highest profile collegiate meets on the east coast each year. The women's team will be represented by distance runner
Anna Igims, who will race for the first time this spring when she runs in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, along with hurdler
Chaley Younkin and sprinter
Regan Johnson. Igims is the SRU record holder in the steeple, while Johnson is the reigning PSAC Athlete of the Week after posting the top 100-meter dash time in the league last week. The men's team will take the 4x100-meter relay squad of
Matthew Crow,
Benny Whitaker,
AJ Virata and
Kanye Thompson, which should be capable of challenging the SRU program record that was set last spring. All four of them will also run individual events. SRU's men will also feature 400-meter hurdle specialists
Owen Rindler and
Cade Adams and sprinter
Kadin Johnson, who will run the 400-meter dash.

TIM WEAVER INVITATIONAL – MEN'S QUICK PREVIEW
Slippery Rock is coming off a strong showing last weekend, where The Rock won 12 events at the Ed Fry Invitational hosted by IUP and also picked up a win in the javelin at West Virginia University.

SRU tallied a trio of NCAA marks last week with
Seaton Wozniak and
Joshua Gose hitting the standard in the shot put and
Josh Kingerski reaching the NCAA mark in the javelin. All three men are expected to compete at West Liberty, where they will be joined by
Zach Gose in leading a strong contingent of throwers.

Indoor pole vault All-American
Drew Layton, who broke the all-time PSAC record two weeks ago at nationals, will make his outdoor debut to lead an SRU pole vault group that includes five men that have earned All-Region honors in their career.

Bradon Schneider,
Logan Gossard and
Andy Huynh have all cleared bars above 4.75 meters in their careers.

The Rock will also send a strong group of multi-event athletes to West Liberty with
Logan Anderson and
Zack Duda leading that group. Anderson earned All-Region honors indoor and will make his collegiate debut in the decathlon.

The Rock will be led at West Liberty by a strong group of throwers that will welcome back multiple-time PSAC shot put champion
Sarah Corrie, who will compete for the first time since last May. Corrie did not have indoor eligibility this year, but has one season of outdoor left. She joins a stellar group that includes
Olivia Heckman and
Becca Martin, who both earned All-Region honors this winter. Martin and
Reese Skiba will headline the discus throwers, while
Autumn Stewart and Martin will lead the way in the hammer.

SRU will send a strong group of jumpers to West Liberty, with
Aleks Brozeski and
Baylee Blauser leading the way in the horizontal jumps,
Allie Taylor and
Hanna Zeiler leading the pole vaulters and
Paige Griffith and
Cassidy Davis highlighting the high jumpers.

Jennifer Cichra will headline the mid-distance races, while PSAC indoor 400-meter champion
