INDIANA, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's track & field team recorded nine event wins, eight Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference qualifying marks and 22 top five finishes at the Ed Fry Invitational Saturday at Indiana University (Pa.).
 
Frigid temperatures, wind and rain hindered the athletes' ability to record top times and marks, but Slippery Rock still managed to put together eight PSAC automatic qualifying marks with four on the track and four in the field.
 
Three of the PSAC marks on the track came in winning efforts and two came from athletes that won two different events Saturday. Chaley Younkin won the 100-meter hurdles in a PSAC time of 14.99 seconds and also took the top spot in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:09.33. Jennifer Cichra won both mid-distance races with a PSAC mark in the 1,500-meter run at 4:52.01. She also took the top spot in the 800-meter run in 2:28.95.
 
Jianna Long won the 400-meter dash in 58.05 seconds and Regan Johnson closed out the PSAC marks on the track with a runner-up showing in the 100-meter dash in 12.40 seconds. Johnson and Long teamed with Samantha Gilbert and Layne Miller to also take first in the 4x100-meter relay in 48.17 seconds.
 
Paige Griffith and Sophia Yard both reached the PSAC standard in the high jump with Griffith winning and Yard taking second with matching clearances of 1.60 meters.
 
The final PSAC efforts of the day came in the shot put, where Olivia Heckman won the competition with a toss of 12.15 meters and Becca Martin was second with a throw of 12.11 meters.
 
Reese Skiba closed out the wins for The Rock with a first place showing in the discus throw, where her toss of 36.69 meters led SRU to a 1-2-3 sweep in the event.

Slippery Rock will return to action next Friday and Saturday at the Tim Weaver Invitational hosted by West Liberty University.
