SRU WOMEN'S NOTES | Atlantic Region Rankings
• Slippery Rock is the two-time defending PSAC champion after winning the women's title in both 2023 and 2024. The Rock looked poised to repeat for the third straight year and were the highest ranked team from the PSAC in the region for most of the year, but an injury to frontrunner
Ruthie Hughes has seen SRU drop from No. 2 to No. 5 in this week's regional rankings, behind three other PSAC teams. No. 2 East Stroudsburg enters the meet as a narrow favorite for the league title with No. 3 Kutztown, No. 4 Edinboro, No. 5 Slippery Rock, No. 6 Bloomsburg, No. 7 Shippensburg and No. 9 Millersville all lining up for a chance at a high finish.
• The women's team race is likely to be much closer than the men, where Shippensburg is expected to run away with the team title. The women's race realistically could see any combo of four or five different teams come out on top with a strong showing Saturday. Despite the injury to Hughes, The Rock are still expected to be in the mix with ESU, Kutztown, Edinboro and Bloomsburg.
• Slippery Rock returns eight of its 12 runners from last year's PSAC meet, including three of its five scorers and four All-PSAC honorees. That list includes first team All-PSAC honorees
Ruthie Hughes and
Jennifer Cichra, who finished third and 12th last year, respectively. SRU also returns second team All-PSAC finishers
Carissa Flynn (28th) and
Tatiana Holt (30th), who both earned All-PSAC honors as freshmen last fall.
• Frontrunner
Ruthie Hughes missed the last SRU race this fall two weeks ago with a minor injury and is unlikely to compete this week, which could significantly shake up the team scores. Hughes is listed on the entries, but her place on the team is likely to be filled by alternate
Skye Hackathorn.
• The Rock will also line up with five other women that competed at the PSAC meet last year, including
Hannah Burgoon (35th),
Skye Hackathorn (45th),
Caitlin Willer (59th) and
Lydia Valeriano (66th), along with Lock Haven grad transfer
Gwen Lloyd (116th).
• The four SRU entries that did not compete at the 2024 championships include veteran
Lexie Wyant and a trio of freshmen in
Kayla Hanna,
Sydney Heltzell and
Marabelle Thornberry. If anyone other than Hughes cannot race Saturday, freshman
Addison McPeek will be the second alternate.
• Slippery Rock is coming off a third place showing at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational two weeks ago, where
Jennifer Cichra led the team for the second race in a row with a 10th place finish.

SRU MEN'S NOTES | Atlantic Region Rankings
• The Rock men enter the PSAC meet ranked outside the top 10 in the latest Atlantic Region rankings with five PSAC teams ranked in the top 10 this week. Defending champion Shippensburg, the No. 2 ranked team in the region, enters the meet as the favorite. Other PSAC teams in the top 10 in the regional poll include No. 4 East Stroudsburg, No. 5 Kutztown, No. 6 West Chester and No. 7 Lock Haven.
• SRU took fourth at the PSAC meet last fall after finishing second at the 2023 championships.
• The Rock return three of their five scorers from last season and one All-PSAC finisher in the form of
John Juszynski, who was 23rd a year ago. Other returning scorers include
Eli Schreiber (54th) and
Ryan Czechowski (60th). SRU's roster will also include former All-PSAC honoree
Michael Novak, who placed 29th at the 2023 championships.
• SRU will also see two other runners other than the ones mentioned above that gained experience at the PSAC meet last year with
Dom Bumblis (62nd) and
Easton Adamczyk (81st) both back for their second appearance at the PSAC meet.
• The group of returners from last year will be joined by veterans
Alex Morris,
Dylan Ribelin,
Anthony Robare and
Michael Gauntner along with freshmen
Lincoln Bouman and
Jonah Lindstrom. If any of The Rock's 12 entries cannot race Saturday, freshman
Grey Lowman will be the alternate.
• The Rock are coming off a seventh place finish at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational two weeks ago where
John Juszynski led the team with a 14th place finish.
