SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock University distance runner
Jennifer Cichra was named to Academic All-America honors when the College Sports Communicators announced the 2025-26 Academic All-America Women's Track & Field and Cross Country teams Wednesday.
Â
Cichra, a May graduate from Butler, Pennsylvania, was named to second team honors and becomes a two-time Academic All-American after also being named to the third team in 2024-25.
Â
In order to be nominated for the Academic All-America program, student-athletes must be at least sophomores in academic and athletic standing, must have an athletic performance that ranks in the top 50 in their respective region in a track event or must finish in the top half of the field at the regional cross country championships, must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher and should have significant athletic credentials.
Â
All performances from the fall cross country season, the winter indoor track & field season and the spring outdoor track & field season are considered.
Â
Cichra earns her second Academic All-America award after closing out one of the best academic careers among all SRU students over the last four years. She finished her undergraduate degree with a perfect 4.0 GPA while majoring in mechanical engineering with a minor in computing, passing an incredible 174 credit hours in just four years with no grades lower than an A. She earned numerous honors, both regionally and nationally, for her academic excellence in the engineering field.
Â
In addition to those academic honors, Cichra was also among the top distance runners in the region. She excelled in the fall cross country season, where she earned first team All-PSAC and All-Region honors in 2025 with the highest finishes of her career at the PSAC and NCAA Atlantic Region Championships. She improved her finish place in each of those championships in all four years of her career, climbing to eighth in the PSAC and 13th in the region this fall. She also ranked 19th in the region in the 800-meter run indoor.
Â
Cichra becomes the 158th Academic All-America honoree at Slippery Rock since the awards program began in 1970. Entering the 2025-26 academic year, SRU ranked sixth among all NCAA Division II institutions in total Academic All-America selections and 37th all-time across the entire NCAA.
Â
Of The Rock's 158 Academic All-America selections, Cichra is one 40 SRU student-athletes to earn the honor multiple times in a career.
Â
Slippery Rock had seven student-athletes recognized as Academic All-Americans during the 2025-26 academic year. Joining Cichra in earning the honor were fellow track & field athletes Seaton Wozniak and Logan Anderson, football player Michael Henwood, women's tennis athlete Nicole Kempton and women's lacrosse players Grace Rotter and Paige Jenkins.
