LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's cross country team finished third in the crimson race at the Lock Haven Invitational Saturday from the West Branch XC Course at Lock Haven.
 
Walsh, the 11th ranked team in Division II, won the event with a score of 28 points. Davis & Elkins, the top ranked team in the Atlantic Region, took second with 66 points with Slippery Rock finishing third with 117 points. Edinboro was fourth with 132 points and Bloomsburg rounded out the top five with 140 points. A total of 21 teams recorded a team score in the crimson race.
 
Jennifer Cichra led the way for SRU with a 12th place finish afer covering the 6,000-meter course in 22:10. Ruthie Hughes was 16th in 22:16, followed by Hannah Burgoon in 28th in 22:40, Sydney Heltzell in 31st in 22:45 and Carissa Flynn in 33rd in 22:47 as The Rock's five scorers were separated by just 37 seconds.
 
Lydia Valeriano (54th, 23:14) and Gwen Lloyd (55th, 23:14) rounded out the top seven finishers for SRU.
 
Slippery Rock also had nine runners compete in the white race Saturday with Lexie Wyant leading the way in 17th place in 25:05. Full SRU results from both races can be found below.
 
The Rock will rest next weekend before returning to action Oct. 11 at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational at Youthtowne Fields in Clinton, Pennsylvania..
