LAST TIME OUT
Slippery Rock earned its first victory of the season by way of a 3-0 shutout at Pitt-Johnstown Sept. 11. SRU's scoring came from DeLucio (4'),
Morgan Sarver (29') and
Libby Zacharyasz (88').
Â
Sydney Patrick bookended the team's goals with a pair of assists while
Ava Balazentis also picked up an assist.
Â
SRU outshot the Mountain Cats 17-10 with
Leah Allman making five saves in net.
Â
LEADING THE ROCK
Patrick leads the six SRU players who have earned points through the first three games, sitting on four points on one goal and two assists. The senior is also one of the team's most efficient shooters so far this year, placing three of her four attempts on target. Coincidentally, SHU is the last remaining PSAC West team Patrick has yet to score against.
Â
Following SRU's 3-0 win at UPJ, DeLucio, Sarver and Zacharyasz all carry two points on the year from one goal. The trio has combined for 14 total shots on the year with Sarver and Zacharyasz leading the way with five apiece.
Â
Both Balazentis and
Sydney Smith – two players who began the season looking for their first career points – round out SRU's scoring statistics with one assist each.
Â
Faith Diffenbacher,
Bailey McGee and
Sophia Palermo have all registered two shots this year, while
Kierstyn Maxey,
Skylar Munnikhuysen and
Lindsey Price round out the team's 13 shot-takers with one.
Â
SENSATIONAL SET PIECES
Slippery Rock's first and third goals against UPJ came via corner kicks taken by Patrick.
Â
DeLucio scored her first goal of the year just 3:51 into the game against the Mountain Cats, heading in the cross while Zacharyasz was the recipient of a loose ball that came on a corner with 3:00 left in the game.
Â
In total, The Rock earned eight of the game's 11 total corners, marking the first game this season in which SRU led in corner kick opportunities.
Â
CAREER POINT #1
A sophomore midfielder from Mars, Pennsylvania, Balazentis was only on the field for 59 seconds at UPJ when she found herself earning her first career point.
Â
Not only did her assist on Sarver's 29
th-minute goal come less than a minute into her 27-minute shift, but it occurred in just her second career appearance at Slippery Rock.
Â
A TEAM EFFORT
With The Rock's 3-0 win at Pitt-Johnstown, Slippery Rock is now 9-0-1 over the last three years when scoring at least three goals in a game.
Â
The Rock have seen three unique scorers in eight of those 10 games, with the victory over UPJ marking the first time DeLucio, Sarver and Zacharyasz have all scored in the same game.
Â
MAXEY IN THE STARTING XI
Maxey became the 13
th different starter for Slippery Rock this year at UPJ, playing 48 minutes and recording her first career shot.
Â
A defensive midfielder from Fairmont, West Virginia, Maxey joins
Jordyn Constable and
Libby Earley in freshmen to have started this year for The Rock. Additionally, freshman midfielder
Chloe Flynn made her Slippery Rock debut against the Mountain Cats.
Â
OUT OF THE GATES
Of the four goals Slippery Rock has scored this season, two have come within the first eight minutes. Patrick got SRU on the board just 7:39 into the team's 2024 campaign with a goal at Shepherd University while DeLucio's game-winner at Pitt-Johnstown only took 3:51 to come to fruition.
Â
Albeit just three games into the 17-game regular season schedule, this is a change of pace from last year for Slippery Rock. In 2023, only 18 of the team's 43 total goals (41.9 percent) came prior to the halftime whistle.
Â
DEFENSIVE STANCE
Zacharyasz and
Nina King have played all 270 possible minutes this year in Slippery Rock's defensive third, now averaging just one goal allowed per game. Diffenbacher once again played the full 90 minutes in the backfield at UPJ as well.
Â
LEAH HOLDS DOWN THE FORT
In just her 22
nd career start, Allman logged her seventh shutout, averaging a blank slate in nearly every third game played in goal. Through three games in 2024, Allman has already made 18 saves, a number that took the Olmsted Township, Ohio native nine games to get to in her freshman season.
Â
Two of Allman's seven career shutouts have come against the Griffins, not allowing a goal to SHU through the two meetings last year. She enters Saturday with a 1.00 GAA this season and an .857 save percentage, having faced 47 shots so far.
Â
BACK AT EGLI
The Rock will be opening up the James Egli Field's 2024 action on a 12-game unbeaten streak at the venue and a 10-game undefeated run at home when games played at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium are factored in.
Â
In the last five years, Slippery Rock has put together an impressive 34-6-9 (.786) record at home, highlighted by a 7-0-2 stretch last year, the team's first perfect record on home soil since 2007's 12-0 effort.
Â
RECORD WATCH
Patrick's two assists at UPJ jumped her into the top five all-time, now with 23. Patrick is tied for fourth all-time with Sonya Maher (1996-99) and trails Ashley Paganie, who leads the program history books with 26, by three assists.
Â
Patrick joins Sarver in the top 20 all-time in total shots attempted, as well. Patrick has attempted 105 total career shots, moving up to a tie for 17
th all-time. Four shots at UPJ were enough to lift Sarver from 14
th to 13
th, using 117 career shots to jump Andrea Felix (2013-16). Sarver is now 16 shots back from the top 10 all-time.
Â
Patrick also started her 60
th consecutive game at Pitt-Johnstown, becoming one of just six Rock women's soccer players to start at least 60 straight games. With a spot in the starting eleven against Seton Hill, Patrick would become only the fourth player in school history with 61 straight starts. Jordyn Minda and Emma Yoder both saw their streaks end at 60.
Â
Playing in her 22
nd game as a goalie, Allman now holds sole possession of 11
th all-time in that category, moving past Melinda Swan's 21 games played from 1998-99.

SETON HILL SCOUTING REPORT
The Griffins will be playing their first game on the road this year after opening the season 2-0-1 in non-conference play. Seton Hill found 1-0 wins against the Mountain East Conference's West Liberty University and Fairmont State University, sandwiching a 0-0 draw with Lock Haven University.
Â
The undefeated start marks the second time in three years that Seton Hill has gone unbeaten through its first three games. Slippery Rock hosted a 3-0 SHU group in 2022, playing to a 0-0 draw at James Egli Field. Just like in 2022, Seton Hill will not only look to remain undefeated but continue its defensive streak of not allowing a goal.
Â
Seton Hill returns its top two attackers from last season in Jessica Molitoris and Kilee Coatney. Molitoris has already scored one of SHU's two goals this year with the other coming from senior striker Samantha Hallow.
Â
Despite losing their top defender from 2023 in Elizabeth Adams, the Griffins are one of just seven Division II teams remaining nationally who have not allowed a goal through their first three games of the season.
Â
Seton Hill has started two goalkeepers so far this year – Sydney Caldwell for two games and Rhys Caplinger for one – both reserves from last season's roster that backed up Lindsey Pazdziorko.
Â
Second-year head coach Riley Butler will be looking for his first career victory as a head coach against Slippery Rock.
Â
LOOKING AHEAD
The Rock will begin their final three-game road trip of the season after a full week off, hitting the road for Indiana University (Pa.) 1 p.m. Sept. 21. Slippery Rock swept the Crimson Hawks a year ago in a pair of one-goal wins.
