Rock set for three-day Bison Outdoor Classic

The Rock will send 57 track and field athletes to Bucknell University to compete in the three-day Bison Outdoor Classic Thursday through Saturday.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University track and field teams will travel to Lewisburg, Pennsylvania for three days of competition at the Bison Outdoor Classic Thursday through Saturday at Bucknell University.

SRU MEN'S PREVIEW
The Rock will send 26 men to compete this week, headlined by the trio of Dalton Anderson, John Eakin and AJ Virata, who are all scheduled to compete in events they currently rank in the top 25 in nationally.
 
Anderson enters the meet ranked 11th in Division II in the javelin with a throw of 63.79 meters. Eakin is 13th in the country in the shot put at 17.43 meters and Virata is 21st in the high jump at 2.05 meters. Virata also ranks second in the PSAC in the 200-meter dash (21.83) and fifth in the 100-meter dash (10.97) and will run both of those race this week.
 
Slippery Rock will also see reigning PSAC multi-event champion Jason Goodman compete in his first decathlon of the outdoor season.
 
Other top entries for SRU in the field this week include Dan Hyatt, who ranks first in the PSAC in the pole vault (4.42m), Bryan Dworek, who ranks third in the PSAC in the long jump (6.75m), Taye Lynch, who ranks third in the PSAC in the triple jump (14.04m), Joshua Gose, who is third in the PSAC in the shot put (15.93m), Joshua VanDeMark, who is third in the PSAC in the hammer (54.13m) and Dylan Close, who is third in the PSAC in the javelin (59.43m).
 
Top entries on the track include Brenden Lewis, who ranks second in the PSAC in the 110-meter hurdles (15.25) and Devon Navaroli, who ranks fifth in the league in the 1,500-meter run (3:57.41).

SRU WOMEN'S PREVIEW
SRU will send 31 women to compete this week, headlined by javelin throwers Trinity Clark and Skylar Sherry and high jumper Cecily Greggs, who all rank in the top 16 nationally in their events this winter.
 
Clark enters the weekend ranked No. 2 among all javelin throwers in Division II with a season-best of 49.55 meters. Sherry is currently No. 16 in Division II with a season-best of 44.11 meters. Greggs ranks eighth in the nation in the high jump with a clearance of 1.73 meters.
 
Clark is also expected to make her outdoor debut in the shot put this weekend and is coming off an All-PSAC finish in the event indoors back in February. She will be joined in the shot put by Sarah Corrie, while Jena Reinheimer will lead the way in the hammer and discus and enters this weekend ranked third in the PSAC in both events (42.45m in discus, 50.81m in hammer).
 
Top entries on the track this week include Marianne Abdalah, who ranks first in the PSAC in the 10,000-meter run (36:55.04), Morgan Donatelli, who ranks third in the PSAC in the 400-meter dash (58.09) and Rachel Veneziano, who ranks fifth in the PSAC in the 400-meter hurdles (1:05.84). SRU will also run its "A" teams in the 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter relays, where The Rock currently rank second (4x100m – 48.74) and third (4x400m – 4:04.72) in the PSAC.
 
In the field, Kendall Grossman enters the pole vault this week ranked second in the PSAC (3.67m), Abby Williamson ranks third in the league in the long jump (5.44m) and Aleks Brozeski ranks third in the PSAC in the triple jump (11.41m).
