Adams, Speigle lead Rock at Green and Red Multi

Kyle Adams was second in the heptathlon and Lorna Speigle was fourth in the pentathlon to lead SRU at the Green and Red Multi Meet that wrapped up Sunday at Edinboro.

EDINBORO, Pa. – Eight members of the Slippery Rock University track and field program wrapped up competition Sunday at the Green and White Multi Meet hosted on the Pennsylvania Western University campus at Edinboro.
 
The Rock sent two men and six women to compete in the two-day multi-meet that began Saturday at SRU for the men and concluded Sunday at Edinboro, while the women competed only on Sunday at Edinboro.
 
Kyle Adams led the way for Slippery Rock with a second place finish in the heptathlon after accumulating 4,229 points over the seven events of the competition. Gavin Thomas followed in third place overall with 4,177 points.
 
On the women's side, Lorna Speigle led The Rock with a fourth place showing in the pentathlon with a score of 2,706 points after competing in five events. She was followed in sixth place by Alison Lamoreaux with 2,443 points and Madelyn Miller in eighth place with 2,345 points. Emily Opfer took ninth with 2,284 points, followed by Olivia Heckman in 10th with 2,266 points and Dani MacBeth in 11th with 2,033 points.
 
The rest of The Rock track and field teams opened the 2022-23 season Friday at the Youngstown State Icebreaker, where the men recorded 15 PSAC qualifying marks and two NCAA provisional marks and the women recorded 18 PSAC marks and one NCAA mark. This weekend marked the only time SRU will compete this season in the 2022 calendar year as The Rock will now break for finals and the holidays before returning to action Jan. 20 at Youngstown State.
