EDINBORO, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's cross country team finished sixth at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships on a wet and muddy course at Edinboro University Saturday morning.

The Rock had their best outing of the year to move up four spots from last year's 10th place finish, topping multiple top 10 teams in the regional rankings in the process.

Edinboro claimed the team title with 48 points, edging second place Shippensburg, which finished with 62 points. Lock Haven was a distant third with 128 points, followed by Kutztown with 162 points and Indiana (Pa.) with 187 points to round out the top five. Slippery Rock was sixth with 213 points, topping West Chester by one point (214) and East Stroudsburg by seven points (220). Bloomsburg was ninth with 248 points and Gannon capped the top 10 with 259 points.

A total of 15 teams and 127 individuals completed the 8,000-meter course.

Josh Rader led The Rock with a 32nd place finish, just barely missing out on an All-PSAC spot as the top 30 places earn the All-Conference distinction. Rader covered the course in 28:27.

Daniel Janyska was the second SRU runner in 35th place in 28:30. He was followed closely in 39th by
John Marenkovic in 28:38 as the top three SRU runners were separated by just 11 seconds.

Andrew Maxwell was The Rock's fourth place finisher in 45th place in 28:46 and
Trenton Yoder capped the scorers in 62nd place in 29:24.

Slippery Rock's top seven were rounded out by
Noah Yake in 69th place in 29:49 and
Tim Ferguson in 75th in 30:12.

Slippery Rock will take next weekend off before hosting the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional Championships Nov. 17 at the Bob O'Connor Golf Course at Schenley Park in Pittsburgh.
