SRU MEN'S NOTESÂ |Â Regional Rankings

Â
• Slippery Rock is coming off a seventh place finish at the PSAC Championships two weeks ago. Â
Â
• SRU finished fifth at the regional meet last year but loses its top two finishers from a year ago with the graduations of
Troy Hart (11th) and
Devon Navaroli (28th).
Â
• This will mark the first time this season that the men will bump up to the 10,000-meter distance.
Â
• SRU has just four men entered that have experience competing at the regional meet and the 10,000-meter distance. Those men include
John Juszynski, who was 48th in 2023 and 36th in 2024, as the only SRU male making his third trip to regionals.
Dom Bumblis (61st in 2024),
Ryan Czechowski (66th in 2024) and
Eli Schreiber (68th in 2024) all made their regional debuts last year.
Â
• None of The Rock's entries have ever earned All-Region honors in XC.
Â
• If freshman
Jonah Lindstrom races Saturday, it will mark his first collegiate race at the 10,000-meter distance. He is the only true freshmen listed on The Rock's entry list.

SRU WOMEN'S NOTESÂ |Â Regional Rankings
• The Rock women enter the meet ranked ninth in the latest set of Atlantic Region rankings, dropping seven spots from No. 2 during most of this fall. The drop in the rankings comes after frontrunner
Ruthie Hughes has sat out each of the last two competitions. SRU is coming off a sixth place showing at the PSAC Meet two weeks ago.
Â
• SRU is looking to qualify for the National Championships as a team for the third straight year after earning runner-up finishes at regionals in each of the last seasons. The Rock will have to compete this year without the 2024 regional champion with the graduation of
Anna Igims.Â
Â
• Slippery Rock will send five women with experience at the regional championships and three women that have previously earned All-Region honors for top 25 finishes. Those women include two-time All-Region honoree
Ruthie Hughes, who was ninth last year and 17th in 2023, and one-time All-Region honorees Jenifer Cichra (17th in 2024) and
Gwen Lloyd (23rd in 2022 while at Lock Haven). Other entries with experience at regionals include
Carissa Flynn (40th in 2024) and
Hannah Burgoon (76th in 2024), who both ran last fall on the same course.
Â
• The rest of the SRU entries would be making their regional debut this week, including veteran
Lydia Valeriano and freshmen
Kayla Hanna,
Sydney Heltzell and
Marabelle Thornberry.
Â
•
Ruthie Hughes, who was third at the PSAC meet and ninth at regionals in 2024, is expected to return to competition this week after missing the last two meets with an injury.
Â
•
Jennifer Cichra has stepped up and led SRU in each of the last three meets, including the PSAC Championships two weeks ago when she placed a career-best eighth. She was joined in earning All-PSAC honors by
Carissa Flynn (17th) and
Hannah Burgoon (21st). The rest of the scorers for SRU at the PSAC meet included
Lydia Valeriano (44th) and
Gwen Lloyd (45th).
Sydney Heltzell (63rd) and
Kayla Hanna (64th) rounded out the top seven.
