LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's cross country team finished 12th at the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Championships Saturday from Lock Haven's West Branch XC Course.

Shippensburg edged the region's No. 1 ranked team Charleston in by just two points to claim the title with 60 total points to the Golden Eagles' 62 points. Davis & Elkins was third with 100 points to claim the final team qualifying spot for nationals. Fayetteville State was fourth with 101 points and East Stroudsburg was fifth with 146 points.

Slippery Rock was the sixth Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference school in the standings with a 12th place showing and 335 points. A total of 22 teams recorded a score and 156 individual runners completed the 10,000-meter course.

The Rock's five scorers were separated by just 28 total seconds in the race with
Michael Gauntner leading the team for the first time in his career with a 61st place showing in 33:01.
John Juszynski was 65th in 33:06 and
Easton Adamczyk was 66th in 33:09 as the top three SRU runners came in within eight seconds of each other.
Eli Schreiber was 71st in 33:14 and
Jonah Lindstrom rounded out the five scorers in 81st in 33:29.

Dylan Ribelin was one spot back in 82nd in 33:30 and
Alex Morris rounded out the SRU entries in 131st place in 36:12.

Saturday's meet marked the conclusion of the cross country season. The Rock's distance runners will now turn their attention to the indoor track & field season, which is scheduled to begin in early December.
