EMPORIA, Kansas – Zach Gose earned honorable mention All-America honors in the hammer throw and Logan Anderson completed the first five events of the decathlon to lead the Slippery Rock University men's track & field team Thursday on the opening day of the NCAA Division II National Championships from Emporia State University.

Gose, a senior from Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, closed his career with a bang by earning his first All-America award. He took 17th place in the hammer throw with a mark of 59.38 meters, moving up four places from his No. 21 seed position. That finish earned him a spot on the honorable mention All-America team from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Gose was one of two Slippery Rock men competing Thursday on the first of three days of action at the national meet with Anderson being the other.

A sophomore from Edinboro, Pennsylvania, Anderson wrapped up the first day of competition in the decathlon in 11th place in the standings with 3,577 points. Anderson clocked times of 11.24 seconds in the 100-meter dash and 51.46 seconds in the 400-meter dash while also putting up marks of 6.67 meters in the long jump, 11.85 meters in the shot put and 1.87 meters in the high jump.

Anderson will be the lone SRU athlete competing Friday on the second day of the meet when he finishes up the last five events of the decathlon. The 110-meter hurdles will open the day at 10:30 a.m. ET.

Seaton Wozniak will close out the action for Slippery Rock when he throws the shot put Saturday at 4:45 p.m. ET.
