Â
HOW THEY GOT HERE
In order to be accepted into the national meet, student-athletes had to reach at least the NCAA provisional standard in their respective events and rank high enough on the declared entry list to be accepted. In Division II, that means in the top 22 places for most individual events and the top 16 places in the decathlon.
Â
LOGAN ANDERSON - DECATHLON
Anderson, a sophomore from Edinboro, Pennsylvania, will be making his second straight appearance at the outdoor national meet after placing 13th in the decathlon as a true freshman last spring. He also qualified for indoor nationals earlier this year and earned first team All-America honors with a seventh place finish in the heptathlon. Anderson enters the meet as the highest seeded SRU athlete with his career-best decathlon score of 7,125 points ranking fifth nationally. He set that mark two weeks ago while winning the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference title.
Â
SEATON WOZNIAK – SHOT PUT
Wozniak, a senior from Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania, is making his second straight trip to the outdoor national meet and his fourth overall trip to a National Championship. He earned second team All-American honors with a 10th place finish in the shot put at nationals last spring and followed that up with another second team All-America honor with a 14th place finish at the indoor national meet earlier this year. He will enter the competition as the 11th seed with a season-best throw of 17.88 meters, well shy of his indoor SRU record of 18.40 meters he set earlier this year. Wozniak was dually focused on the shot put and discus this spring, winning his first PSAC title in the discus and narrowly missing nationals in both events. His discus best of 52.27 meters was No. 29 in Division II this year.
Â
ZACH GOSE – HAMMER THROW
Gose, a senior from Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, is headed to the national meet for the first time in his career. He will compete in the hammer throw as the No. 21 seed with his SRU record throw of 62.16 meters. Gose broke the SRU record in the hammer four times this spring, with the most recent coming just last week at the Harrison Dillard Twilight meet at Baldwin Wallace, where he improved his record from 62.12 meters to 62.16 meters.
