ASHLAND, Ohio – The Slippery Rock University women's track & field team recorded 14 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference qualifying marks across two meets this weekend with athletes competing at Allegheny College and Ashland University.
 
Included in those 14 qualifying marks were six athletes that either qualified for the PSAC meet for the first time this season or improved on their seeding mark for next week's conference meet.
 
Jennifer Cichra led the way at Allegheny Friday night by locking up an automatic spot in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:20.43. All five of the other new qualifiers or improvements came from Ashland.
 
Ondrea Young improved her seed time in the 100-meter hurdles to 14.49 seconds, moving up to No. 3 on the PSAC list.
 
Madison Smalheer improved her season-best in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:04.72 and Isabel Shvarts qualified for the first time in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:05.51.
 
Kylie Eismann improved her season-best in the pole vault with a clearance of 3.52 meters.
 
Savannah Schneck improved her mark in the shot put with a throw of 13.58 meters to move up to No. 2 on the PSAC list, trailing only her own teammate Olivia Heckman.
 
In addition to the improvements made this weekend, Slippery Rock also picked up a win in the triple jump with Tayla Kurzawa winning with a leap of 11.60 meters at Ashland.

Slippery Rock will now turn its attention to the PSAC Championships next Thursday through Saturday at Shippensburg University.
