LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Slippery Rock University thrower
Zach Gose was named the Male Field Athlete of the Week when the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its final weekly awards of the indoor track & field season Monday.
Â
Gose, a senior from Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, picks up his first Athlete of the Week award of the winter season after recording a career-best performance in the weight throw at the Ashland Last Chance Meet over the weekend.
Â
His throw of 19.21 meters was an NCAA provisional qualifying performance and marked the first time in his career with a throw of more than 19 meters. It was also the third best throw in SRU history, trailing only throws of 19.36 meters and 19.38 meters by SRU record holder Joshua VanDeMark in 2023.
Â
Gose also took second in the unseeded section of the shot put at Ashland with a PSAC qualifying throw.
Â
He currently ranks No. 30 among all throwers in Division II this year in the weight throw.
Â
Gose and The Rock will compete this Saturday and Sunday at the PSAC Championships at Lehigh University.
