LAST TIME OUT
Slippery Rock fell for the fifth game in a row, 82-70, Jan. 10 at Pitt-Johnstown.

Sophia Hook led SRU in scoring for the fourth time this season with 19 points on 7-of-15 shooting from the floor overall and 2-for-5 from the 3-point line. Hook also grabbed six rebounds and one steal. Karianna Woods put in 12 points, on an efficient 5-of-7 from the floor overall, along with three rebounds, two assists and one steal.

Kayley Joseph-Bernard and Alyssa Gillin combined for 19 points, 18 rebounds, seven assists, and five blocks while shooting 8-for-14 from the floor overall and 3-of 6 from beyond the arc as The Rock's frontcourt.

Rounding out the starters was Iyanna Wade with four points, four assists, three rebounds and one steal.

Mairan Haggerty contributed 14 points, five rebounds, one steal and one block in 18 minutes off the bench. Haggerty's 14 points was one away from tying her career high. 

Slippery Rock ended the game shooting 44.4 percent (24-of-54) from the field overall, 44.4 percent (8-for-18) from the 3-point line and 66.7 percent (14-of-21) from the charity stripe. The field goal and 3-point percentages were each the second highest for Slippery Rock this season. SRU won the battle on the glass with a +7 rebounding margin (39-32).

Defensively, SRU limited Pitt-Johnstown to 44.6 percent (29-of-65) shooting from the floor overall, 26.7 percent (4-for-15) from beyond the arc and 76.9 percent (20-of-26) from the foul line.

ROCK AGAINST RANKED IUP TEAMS
With IUP holding the number eight spot in the national rankings, Slippery Rock will have a chance to knock off a ranked Crimson Hawks squad for the second time in program history. The first win over a ranked IUP team came in a 89-78 victory with Indiana holding the No. 10 spot in the nation during the 1999-00 season.

Slippery Rock has played five games so far this season at Morrow Field House. The Rock have enjoyed their home court as they have made 10.6 percent of more of their 3-pointers and 8.8 percent more of their free throws.

MOVING THE ROCK
Ball movement has been key for SRU putting up 65.7 points per game as it has assisted on 57.6 percent (198-of-344) of it's made field goals.

Wade and Joseph-Bernard lead the way for Rock playmakers as the guard ranks third (4.5 apg) and the forward ranks fourth (3.9 apg) in the PSAC in assists per game.

Slippery Rock is the only team in the PSAC with two of the top five players in assists per game.

LEADING THE PACK
Wade is currently averaging 13.0 points per game and 4.5 assists per game this season. The guard sits 32nd in the country in assists per game and is the third highest in the freshmen ranks in Division II. The rookie also leads all freshmen in the conference in scoring and assists.

PROTECTING THE PAINT
Joseph-Bernard has been one of the fiercest shot-blockers in the country so far this season. The forward is currently 23rd in Division II in total blocks with 28 and 27th with 2.0 blocks per game. While near the top of the country in blocks and blocks per game, Joseph-Bernard's total rejection numbers atop the PSAC. The senior forward only trails Lock Haven University's Alana Robinson in blocks per game (2.2)

Along with Joseph-Bernard, Gillin has also been a force in the paint. Gillin ranks third in total blocks (21) and fifth in blocks per game (1.5) in the PSAC.

RISING UP THE RANKS
Against the Mountain Cats, Joseph-Bernard moved up one spot into a tie for 10th place with Lori Robinson (1993-96, 97-98) on Slippery Rock's career blocks list with 56 rejections. 

Gillin blocked two shots against Pitt-Johnstown to move up one spot into 14th place, passing Jessica Schake (2005-07, 08-09) on the blocks list with 46.

INSIDE-OUT THREAT
Gillin has been a crucial linchpin for SRU both offensively and defensively this year. Not only has she blocked 1.5 shots per game, she's also converted 28 of her 80 3-point attempts on the way to averaging 12.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game while shooting 44.7 percent from the field overall to go with her impressive shot blocking.
 
Gillin is one of only two athletes in all of Division II to have recorded at least 25 made 3-pointers and 20 blocks this year.

A LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING
While typically not the highest scoring player on the court, Joseph-Bernard always finds multiple ways to impact the game. The senior is averaging 9.0 points, 9.7 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 2.0 blocks and 2.1 steals per game. 

Joseph-Bernard is the only Division II athlete to average at least 8.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.0 blocks and 2.0 steals per game.

APPROACHING FRESHMAN RANKS
One game into the second half of the regular season, Wade is 77 points, one assist and eight 3-pointers away from entering Slippery Rock's top 10 list for a freshman in each category. The freshman is currently chasing Viola Bournes (259 points), Nikki Presto (64 assists) and Robinson (20 3-pointers).

SENIOR SEASONS
Joseph-Bernard and Gillin have been the backbone Slippery Rock's defense this season. The two forwards rank inside the top 10 for blocks as a senior at The Rock as Joseph-Bernard sits in third place with 28 blocks, while Gillin occupies fifth place with 21 blocks along with Jamiyah Johnson, Morgan Henderson and Dawn Maple.

Gillin also currently sports the seventh highest 3-point percentage (.350) by a Slippery Rock senior with at least three attempts per game.

3-POINT PRECISION
Slippery Rock has multiple players lighting it up from beyond the arc during the 2025-26 season. Hook reigns supreme atop the PSAC (.406) and Gillin (.350) sits fourth in the conference in 3-point percentage.

HITTING THE GLASS
Joseph-Bernard is one of the premier rebounders in the PSAC as the senior grabs the second most defensive rebounds per game (8.4), the third most rebounds per contest (9.7) and the fourth most total rebounds (136) in the PSAC. Most recently Joseph-Bernard grabbed 11 rebounds on the way to her first double-double of the season (10 points and 11 rebounds) at Pit-Johnsotwn.

Joseph-Bernard's 8.2 defensive rpg puts the senior as the fifth best defensive rebounder in Division II.

IRON WOMEN
Slippery Rock has utilized the same starting lineup of Wade, Hook, Woods, Gillin and Joseph-Bernard in all 14 games this season. The Rock's core five rarely leave the court as every SRU starter averages at least 33.4 minutes per game.
 
Led by Wade's 37.8 minutes per game, a PSAC-high and the sixth most in the nation, all five Rock starters are ranked in the top of 11 in the conference in terms of minutes played per game. Hook is also in the top 15 in Division II in mpg as the junior guard ranks 14th in the country.

IMPRESSIVE OFF THE BENCH
Haggerty played close to a season-high in minutes with 14 against Pitt-Johnstown and rewarded coach Ryenn Micaletti with a near career-high 14 points and a season-high five rebounds. The junior forward shot 3-of-7 from the floor overall and 2-for-4 from beyond the arc, while converting on six of her eight free throws attempts.

Jorja Bernesser has recieved more time recently as the freshman has played six straight games with her appearance against the Mountain Cats. Fellow freshman Sarah Chawki has seen action two straight games, scoring two points in each appearance.

SCOUTING INDIANA
The Crimson Hawks have started their season with a perfect 13-0 record and 7-0 mark in the PSAC. IUP holds and average margin of victory of 29.5 points. Among Indiana's best victories was a 83-67 win over then No. 16 Ashland University Nov. 19.

The IUP rotation features two athletes averaging at least 10.0 points per game in starters Nyshae' Weaver (15.4) and Teresa Maggio (13.7). Weaver leads the nation in field goal percentage at 69.4 percent, while Maggio sits at 31st in the country and third in the PSAC in 3-point percentage at 38.9 percent. Much different than SRU, no IUP starter averages more than 26.1 mpg.

Defensively, IUP has seven players averaging at least 1.0 steal per game, led by Maggio with 2.5 spg.
