Krueger named women's soccer assistant coach

Former Slippery Rock forward and 2015 SRU alumna Nicole Krueger has been hired as an assistant coach with The Rock women's soccer program, as announced Tuesday by head coach Noreen Herlihy.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Former Slippery Rock University women's soccer forward and 2015 SRU alumna Nicole Krueger will join The Rock women's soccer coaching staff as an assistant coach, SRU head women's soccer coach Noreen Herlihy announced Tuesday.

"I'm thrilled to have Nicole joining me here at Slippery Rock," said Herlihy. "She is an excellent young coach that has a passion for The Rock and an understanding of the pedigree and history of this program."

Krueger, who graduated at the top of her class from SRU in 2015 with a degree in exercise science, has spent the last nine years working as an assistant on Herlihy's staffs at two different institutions. She spent two years as a graduate assistant and four years as an assistant coach at the University of Akron before spending the last three seasons as an assistant coach at Indiana University (Pa.).

During her time at IUP, Krueger helped Herlihy turn the program into a regional contender after leading the Crimson Hawks to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 15 years with an overall record of 11-3-4 in 2024.

Prior to her time at Indiana, Krueger helped coach Akron to three MAC Tournament appearances, doubling the program's all-time postseason trips between 2016-22. She also earned her master's degree in exercise physiology and adult fitness from Akron in 2018.

Krueger appeared in 65 games over four seasons at Slippery Rock from 2011-14, helping the program to an overall record of 56-21-8 with three trips to the NCAA Round of 16 and one appearance in the national quarterfinals. She was named to Academic All-America honors in 2014 when she scored a career-high six goals and 14 points during her senior season. Krueger was also named to PSAC Top 10 honors in 2014.

A native of Scottsdale, Arizona, Krueger will officially begin her new role at SRU this week.
