Igims and Rock coaching staff honored by PSAC

Anna Igims was named the Female Track Athlete of the Year and The Rock Coaching Staff was named the Women's Staff of the Year when the PSAC announced its major awards for the outdoor season Thursday.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Slippery Rock University distance runner Anna Igims was named the Women's Track Athlete of the Year and The Rock's track & field coaching staff was named the Women's Coaching Staff of the Year when the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its major award winners for the outdoor season Thursday.

Igims, a graduate student from Pittsburgh, completes the year-long sweep of PSAC Athlete of the Year awards after she also won the cross country honor in the fall and the indoor track honor in the winter. The Rock's coaching staff, led by head coach Bill Jordan, also completed a year-long sweep with Bobby Over winning the cross country award and the SRU staff winning the indoor honor.

The major award is the latest in a long and growing list for Igims, who finished her career this spring by completing an undefeated year in PSAC competition. She won three PSAC outdoor titles (1,500m, 5,000m, steeplechase) and led all athletes, male or female, with 30 individual points at the conference meet. She then closed her year by earning first team All-America honors in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a seventh place finish at the National Championships. Igims had the fastest time in the region in every event she ran this year and broke two SRU records with her times in the steeplechase (10:17) and the 5,000-meter run (16:38).

The Rock coaching staff were recognized after leading SRU to the 2025 PSAC title after the team won eight of 21 events at the conference meet on the way to a convincing win. SRU scored points in 17 events and qualified a program record 49 women to compete at the PSAC Championships. Igims and Isabella Bartoletti (javelin) went on to earn All-America honors at the national meet.

Jordan was also named twice this year as the Atlantic Region Women's Coach of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, while assistant coach Bobby Over was also named as the Women's Assistant Coach of the Year in the Atlantic Region during the indoor season. Jordan, Over and assistant coach Tabitha Bemis, who coaches the jumpers and multi-event athletes, are the three full-time coaches on The Rock staff.

The rest of the staff, many of which are part time or volunteer positions, includes Nathan Shadeck (sprints, hurdles and relays), Judy Geist (throws), Jim Geist (throws), Vanere Maynard (sprints), Andrew Maxwell (distance), Joshua Gose (graduate assistant - throws), Taye Lynch (graduate assistant - jumps) and full-time certified athletic trainer Jordan Kissner.

"I'm so glad the PSAC changed this award to recognize the entire staff and not just the head coach," said Jordan. "We qualified 102 athletes into the PSAC meet this year and that is a direct representation of the incredible work our staff does with our student-athletes each and every day. I'm so grateful for their commitment to our program and couldn't be more proud of the effort of the entire staff."

Slippery Rock's women swept the PSAC track and field titles in 2024-25 after winning both the indoor and outdoor meets, while also winning the cross country title in the fall.
